The role of Head of Marketing: 

Purpose 

The purpose of the Head of Marketing is to maximise revenue through driving desire to purchase Glean’s products and services

Outcomes

  • Acquiring new customers and driving revenue 
  • Supporting sales to drive maximum revenue through new business and customer upsales 
  • Improving customer and user experiences through external communication 
  • Building a high performance marketing team 

What you’ll be responsible for: 


Ownership and responsibility for setting the 12 month marketing strategy and roadmap 

  • Translate company goals into key outcomes for marketing
  • Performance, opportunity and risk analysis for marketing 
  • Identifying, segmenting and prioritising target buyers and audiences to be reached through marketing comms
  • Building the structures, processes and policies required to be able to effectively promote to identified audiences and buyer types 
  • Identifying strategies and tactics to overcome key objections and blockers to securing effective sales 
  • Defining and driving key cross-department initiatives to increase marketing performance such as pricing and packages optimisation, new market exploration, buying mechanisms 


Building a high performance marketing team 

  • Strategic workforce planning, including team structure, training, personal development plans and recruitment 
  • Driving reporting and key performance indicators and structures to drive team behaviour 
  • Performance management 
  • Defining and managing marketing team culture 


Developing scalable marketing practices and processes 

  • Research on best practice for SAAS marketing professionals and identify opportunities 
  • Formalising and documenting marketing processes and practices 
  • Identifying areas of improvement and and inconsistency within the marketing process 
  • Driving the improvement of touch points, marketing materials, and pitches to different market segments 
  • Act as a key stakeholder for marketing driving improvements to the marketing tech stack 
  • Identifying and implementing automations and efficiency improvements throughout the marketing process 
  • Act as a key stakeholder for marketing in optimising pricing and packaging 


Senior reporting to leadership, board and company 

  • Identify define and track key success metrics 
  • Identifying and reporting on key risks and proposing mitigations 
  • Report on marketing revenue and marketing performance 
  • Identify opportunities and blockers with our current marketing model and approaches 
  • Build business cases for needed time, resources or focus from other teams for identified work 
  • Communicate and report on marketing strategies, initiatives and performance to wider company 


Providing market insights to the wider business

  • Develop mechanisms to understand market trends 
  • Develop mechanism to understand key drivers of buyers and customers 
  • Use market insight to drive marketing strategies, plans, messaging and execution
  • Ensure market insights and performance are shared with key stakeholders throughout to drive improvements 



About you: 

Key Skills and Attributes 

  • Highly results driven 
  • Strong working knowledge of the full marketing mix 
  • Can manage and add value across the full buyer journey 
  • Long term focused, can build structures, processes and teams that scale 
  • Strong knowledge of the market, buyers and market trends 
  • Experience of managing managers
  • Track record of developing people and teams 
  • Able to delegate projects and initiatives effectively 

Profile

  • Experience working across both B2B and D2C business models
  • 10 + years of marketing experience with at least 5 years in an oversight role
  • Experience of shaping and evolving a marketing function through significant growth of the organisation
  • Experience reporting into an exec team member and comfortable standing in front of the board of directors when asked to

Salary and benefits:

£70,000 - £90,000 dependent upon experience

If we invite you to meet with us for interview, here’s an overview of what the process will look like: 

  1. Screening interview with someone in our Recruitment team (30 minutes). 
  2. First stage interview with the hiring manager and another Glean colleague (1 hour).
  3. Final stage interview which includes a 1 hour culture and values interview, plus a 30 minute task. You will be meeting with the hiring manager and one of the Executive Team.

Ahead of your interview you will receive a confirmation email outlining who you’ll be meeting and when, anything you’ll need to prepare in advance and any resources we think you might find helpful.
