About Lendable

Lendable is on a mission to make consumer finance amazing: faster, cheaper and friendlier.

We’re building one of the world’s leading fintech companies and are off to a strong start:

  • One of the UK’s newest unicorns with a team of just over 250 people
  • Among the top 10 fastest-growing tech companies in the UK

  • Profitable since 2017
  • Backed by top investors including Balderton Capital and Goldman Sachs

  • Loved by customers with the best reviews in the market (4.8/5 across 10,000s of reviews)

So far, we’ve rebuilt the Big Three consumer finance products from scratch: loans, credit cards and car finance. We get money into our customers’ hands in minutes instead of days.

We’re growing fast, and there’s a lot more to do: we’re going after the two biggest Western markets (UK and US) where trillions worth of these are held by big banks with dated systems and painful processes.

Join us if you want to

  • Take ownership across a broad remit. You are trusted to make decisions that drive a material impact on the direction and success of Lendable from day 1
  • Work in small teams of exceptional people, who are relentlessly resourceful to solve problems and find smarter solutions than the status quo
  • Build the best technology in-house, using new data sources, machine learning and AI to make machines do the heavy lifting

The role in a Nutshell

We’re looking for an experienced, smart and analytical leader to be a Senior Product Manager for Collections in the UK. With collections portfolios across our Loans, Cards and Motor Finance products, your focus will be on leading the collections product strategy for a cross-product engagement approach, streamlining our technology to deliver optimal outcomes for our customers and the business.

As the lead Collections Product Manager, your primary role is to ensure optimal customer outcomes and business efficiency through a personalized and regulatory-compliant strategy. You will be instrumental in the development of our innovative multi-product Customer Engagement Platform.

Your responsibilities include supporting each product vertical in achieving its strategic collections goals, delivering business value, and assisting customers towards financial freedom with responsible solutions. You will also be in charge of our collections technology, ensuring its adaptability as our business grows.

This role will cover all aspects of Collections product management including:

  • In tight collaboration with the Collections MD, deliver on the Collections strategy and quarterly OKRs for the broader Collections Org

  • Build an in-house cross-product Customer Engagement Platform from scratch

  • Optimise and develop innovative self-serve features for customers to manage their own finances

  • Improve our experimentation and A/B testing to enhance future Collections strategies

  • Build tools which maximise efficiency for our Customer Service and Collections teams

  • Find new ways to engage with and support customers who may be experiencing financial difficulty

  • Manage relationships with third parties to ensure an effective feedback loop and execution of strategies

Across this breadth of responsibility, you will work closely with the Collections MD and partner with the lead PMs of the product verticals and the Engineering team to define & deliver our long-term product roadmap. You will ensure we are delivering the best outcomes for our customers while owning the future of our Collections technology and solutions, ensuring the goals of the collections department are communicated upwards to senior management.

You will lead the Collections product, defining the roadmap, owning day-to-day product delivery and working hand in hand with various departments to prioritise projects according to their maximum value and impact. It is your job to break down complex tasks into bite-sized deliverables. We have some of the best engineers in the industry and we need you to help us showcase their talent to the world.

What you’ll be doing

  • Act as the primary point of contact for collections initiatives to senior management

  • Coordinate and prioritise collections work across Loans, Cards and Motor Finance products

  • Define the product strategy, shipping features and bug fixing for the central collections development team

  • Analysing quantitative and qualitative data to inform both strategic investments and prioritisation of the product backlog

  • Testing, measuring and optimising the impact of new releases and experiments

  • Optimise engineering time for maximum impact

  • Ensuring our customers’ needs are always at the heart of what we’re building

  • Closely partnering with engineers to define what is the best way to implement a feature or answer a business query

  • Influence the long-term strategy for Collections, working alongside our Collections MD and the wider Product and Collections teams (Loans, Cards, Motor Finance, Strategy, Compliance, Data Science, Operations, and Engineering)

Your experience

  • 5+ years of experience in a Strategy, Analytics or Product role

  • 3+ years of experience in Collections & Recoveries

How you will contribute to the Product Team’s objectives

  • Leadership: As a product leader, you will drive the quarterly OKR process (together with the MD) and do what it takes to deliver on them. You’re able to make tough decisions & trade-offs, especially when faced with high ambiguity. You own these decisions but also course correct when needed. Through all this, you are always striving to build a High Performing Team and work with the team leadership to improve yourself, others and the team overall

  • Problem-solving: Consistently breaking down complex business problems into bite-sized chunks. Complex tasks don’t intimidate you and you are able to break down a complex problem into parts

  • Data-driven: You have experience with numerical analysis - at least Excel, ideally some coding too. We will teach you the tools (SQL), but you need to feel comfortable with numbers and using data to drive real-world actions

  • Communication: You can communicate clearly and succinctly, orally and in writing; you enjoy a lively discussion. You effortlessly adjust your communication to suit your audience, from business owners to engineers. You don’t have a massive ego and you are happy to change your mind when presented with a good argument

  • Collaboration: You feel comfortable establishing close relationships with key stakeholders across the wider company allowing you to quickly assemble cross-functional teams for product delivery

  • Flexibility: The role will be broad and cover all aspects of credit card product management. Priorities can change quickly and you will spend time debugging smaller problems while also delivering major changes to our product

  • Working at speed: You make things happen. You are not afraid to roll up your sleeves and take responsibility for implementation and design decisions. You work at speed and enjoy a healthy dose of pressure

  • Process management: A solid understanding of the software development life cycle and how to ensure our products are working as intended for our customers

  • Agility: Not just Agile (Scrum or Kanban would be nice) but adaptability to thrive in an unstructured, fast-moving and constantly evolving high-growth environment

Interview process

  • CV screening

  • A quick introduction call with someone from the Talent Team

  • A take-home exercise to complete in your own time + take-home debrief (via video)

  • Final round:

  1. CPO

  2. Collections MD / Product lead

  3. Engineering Manager

  4. Cultural Interviews with some wider product team leads
