About the Marketplace Matching Team
The Marketplace Matching team is responsible for optimizing how we match customers to professionals within Thumbtack’s marketplace. Our challenges are deeply technical and span a wide range of domains from engineering challenges related to improving the search experience or enabling policy based re-ranking for search results to machine learning challenges related to ranking & search relevance. Examples of recent efforts include: improving search bar autocomplete suggestions using ElasticSearch, improving search infrastructure to enable cross team experimentation, optimizing ML systems for search ranking using neural networks, introducing a policy layer to re-rank search results to improve monetization & demand-supply inefficiencies.
