What's the role?
We are looking for a highly motivated, proactive, detail-oriented individual who can thrive in a fast-paced environment. Thanks to our rapid growth, we have an amazing opportunity for a mid-level PR & Communications Manager to join our team at ZOE. Reporting to the Head of PR & Communications, you will be responsible for planning, executing and coordinating ZOE’s busy press office and delivering our (organic) podcast strategy alongside our agency partner, together with executing on comms campaigns. You’ll take the lead on driving a drumbeat of top tier earned media coverage and developing our storytelling for key ZOE spokespeople. In collaboration with the senior Comms team, you’ll be responsible for delivering best-in-class communications for a category leader in health and wellbeing, building brand awareness through the media with a focus on the UK market.
About the team
The ZOE PR & Communications team executes and delivers on all aspects of the PR and communications for the business to help position ZOE as a category leader in health and nutrition. As a team, we work smarter, not harder, to deliver impactful results for ZOE. The team collaborates closely with the wider marketing team and partners with an external agency to support us in bringing stories to life.
The ZOE press office receives numerous national print and digital requests a week, and the team works closely with top consumer titles on a weekly basis. ZOE’s scientists regularly release novel science, giving the PR team lots of amazing stories to pitch to our media contacts, which sets us apart from any other health brands.
In this role, we’ll be counting on you as an individual contributor to:
Autonomously manage the ZOE press inbox, in collaboration with our agency partner Be the key daily contact for our PR agency to ensure smooth coordination of our busy department Lead weekly/monthly/quarterly reporting of PR activity to the wider business Drive product reviews and VIP press gifting for ZOE Develop and deliver on our (organic) podcast strategy, placing our diverse spokespeople as guests on top tier external podcasts Draft press releases, press commentary and copy for other parts of the business in collaboration with ZOE scientists/spokespeople Draft and pitch creative ideas for the media, alongside agency partner Build relationships with top tier consumer media, staying up to date on our world-class science and how we place them in news stories Support on wider brand and marketing initiatives that require Comms support, alongside broader Comms team Be the eyes and ears of the PR & Comms team, sharing timely coverage and spotting industry trends and suggesting press moments we can piggyback on Help to deliver against and have a meaningful contribution towards our PR and Communications strategy and quarterly OKRsWe think this role would be a great fit if you:
Are in tune with the news agenda: obsessed by the media (traditional and digital), how the news cycle works and be able to spot and react to news opportunities Have strong copywriting skills: You need to be hot on spelling, grammar and proofreading, as well as have a creative flair for producing engaging, succinct copy Are customer obsessed and will put our members at the heart of everything we do Are very organised and detail-oriented, having the confidence to manage up to seniors, whilst having excellent coordination skills - especially given the remote nature of our work Have experience in a high growth scale up and thrive in this environment. You feel comfortable making decisions to act fast, pivot fast and drive the changing needs of a high growth start up company Are confident presenting virtually or in-person: From communicating ideas to your team to presenting stories to journalists, you need to organise information in a succinct and interesting way to capture their attention Have brilliant interpersonal skills: Whether it’s over the phone, by email or in person, PR is all about people, so being approachable, friendly and being able to relate to people on different levels is key Are good at time-keeping: You will often be working to tight media deadlines as well as meeting the demands and pressures of the tea, so you need to be able to work quickly and efficiently, without compromising on quality. Are resilient: You need to be happy to pick up the phone to national journalists and resilient enough to handle feedback and rejection You’re a natural team player. A great collaborator who people enjoy working with and a demonstrated ability to work effectively with cross-functional teamsThese are the ideal skills, attributes, and experience we’re looking for in this role. Don’t worry if you don’t tick all the boxes, especially on the skills and experience front, we’re happy to upskill for the right candidate.
