Sifted is looking for a junior editor to join our team of friendly and collaborative journalists covering the world of European startups and tech.

We’re looking for a detail-oriented wordsmith who wants to develop as a subeditor and editor.

In this role, you’ll be the linchpin of our newsroom — playing a vital role in helping our publishing process run smoothly and upholding Sifted’s high journalistic standards. Your responsibilities will primarily be to sub- and copy-edit, but we’d also like you to have fun with headlines, and be creative with imagery and charts.

We will place a strong emphasis on personal development in this role. Working closely with our team of editors, you will be mentored to develop your subbing and copy editing skills and grow as an editor.

We strongly encourage candidates from underrepresented backgrounds to apply.

About Sifted:

Sifted is an award-winning new media platform, backed by the Financial Times, reporting on the world of technology and startups in Europe. Five years after launching, our high-quality journalism is a must-read for many founders, investors and people working in startups across the continent.

We’re friendly, hard-working and passionate about what we do. We have a flat structure, collaborate across disciplines and everyone has an impact across many areas of the business. We value feedback, honesty and clear communication.

What will you be doing?

  • Copyediting
  • Crafting excellent headlines
  • Optimising on-page SEO, including images and charts
  • Maintaining and updating, where necessary, the Sifted brand, tone of voice and style guides and ensuring they are used consistently in-house and by freelance
