  • Role Summary:

About Us

BeZero Carbon is a global ratings agency for the Voluntary Carbon Market. We distribute our ratings via our SaaS Product, BeZero Carbon Markets, informing all market participants on how to price and manage risk. Our ratings and research tools support buyers, intermediaries, investors and carbon project developers.

Founded in April 2020, our 120+ strong team combines climatic and earth sciences, sell-side financial research, earth observation, machine learning, data and technology, engineering, and public policy expertise. We work from four continents.

Having raised a significant Series B funding round in late 2022, we are rapidly growing as a company, accelerating the Net-Zero transition through ratings.

Job Description:

The Communications Manager will play an important role in building BeZero’s credibility through the media. You will work closely with our CEO and the executive team to deliver media and public relations. You’ll need to be experienced in dealing with national and trade media, confident hitting the ground running, and be comfortable executing a media strategy to boost our reputation. You will have the support of an experienced comms agency who have worked with our business for more than 18 months. There is also the possibility of growing a team around you in the future.

Responsibilities:

●Own our media relations strategy, partnering with our executive team to deliver compelling advocacy for the business at the right time and place

●Act as an advisor to executives for external communications, briefing founders and senior management to help them get the most value out of press engagements and land core messaging

●Own the day-to-day relationship with our external PR agency and work with them to land our core messages in the media

●Coordinate our reactive media activity, triaging, assessing and delegating responses to all media requests

●Build and maintain relationships with national, international and trade journalists

●Be responsible for BeZero’s crisis communications

Key skills and experience:

●You have at least 3-5 years of experience, working in agency, government, or in-house as a PR or media lead.

●You are an excellent writer, who can draft both corporate press notices and technical writing suitable for a B2B audiences

●You have experience dealing with complex reactive media queries and the confidence to advise senior teams on crisis response

●You have existing relationships with journalists across climate, sustainability, business and financial publications, and experience building relationships with reporters from scratch

●You thrive in a fast-paced environment and can confidently manage multiple work streams simultaneously
