Rapha is a market-leading premium cycling brand, with a mission to help the world live their life by bike.We now have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Accountant to support our US region.

As the only finance team member in the US regional office, you will have a broad remit, including but not limited to, regional payroll processing, financial and accounting policies, systems, processes and regulatory requirements. You will prepare management reporting including key metrics and reports to contribute to business strategy.

The Role:

The Senior Accountant for the US will be directly responsible for the following:

Payroll


  • Provide administrative support to the Global Payroll Manager (London) and assist in the preparation of US payroll.
  • Collect changes and timesheets from Store Managers.
  • Prepare spreadsheet files to upload hours and changes onto the payroll system.
  • Verify and check submissions to ensure all data is entered accurately including all local tax authority submissions and remittances.
  • Process and managee holiday pay accrual
  • Stay updated on labour law changes in active state and jurisdictions. (Arkansas, California, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, New York and Washington)
  • Manage Workers Compensation and general liability insurance relationships
  • Assist with the administration of the Company’s 401k, healthcare and salary sacrifice schemes.
  • Update and maintain employee records in the in-house HR and scheduling systems.
  • Add new starters and ensure all employees are set up correctly across different platforms.
  • Process leavers and implement any other changes as necessary.

Accounting and Compliance


  • Full ownership of trial balance for US entity, turnover approximately $40m per annum
  • Monthly management accounting and reporting to Group Finance (London) including posting accruals, prepayments, completing balance sheet recs and variance analysis
  • Manage regional bank accounts and complete weekly bank reconciliations
  • Oversee accounting policies, processes, procedures to meet appropriate accounting standards for entities in the region
  • Conduct ongoing regular reviews of financial systems and controls and make recommendations for improvements
  • Manage requests for information from regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with all local and local tax rules and legislation
  • Produce and provide information for internal and external reporting/audit purposes
  • Ensure corporate governance matrix is followed with all contracts being reviewed and approved
  • Act as key business support to Marketing, Retail, Wholesale and Regional Managing Director for finance and compliance related queries
  • Work closely with Commercial Finance team (London) to give local knowledge and view on commercial opportunities

The Candidate


  • Degree in relevant field with 1-2 years experience in industry or part-qualified accountant
  • Solid understanding of accounting and financial reporting
  • Experience working with Microsoft ERP solutions would be advantageous
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight timelines
  • Proficiency in working in a fast-paced, complex, dynamic, global business environment
  • Strong academics
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organisational skills; ability to manage multiple projects in an efficient way
