About Journee ✈️

Hi there! 👋

Journee was created back in 2019 because our Co-Founders - Ed, Megha and James - were frustrated with the travel industry. Booking a trip yourself is a time-consuming and painful experience. And everyone ends up going to the same places and doing the same things. With Journee, we've created a way for you to go on an adventure you never knew you needed. All we need is 10 minutes of your time to fill in our questionnaire.

Journee boasts a 4.9 TrustPilot score with over 1000 reviews and is post-Product Market Fit. Monetised from Day 1 and ready to scale, we are now in an exciting and crucial stage of growth.

With this in mind, we are excited to be making our first ever external Product hire, which makes this opportunity extra special.

The Role in a Nutshell

As Journee is scaling rapidly, we are now looking to make our very first external hire within Product - a key role. We are looking for an experienced, hands-on Product Lead to work closely with our Co-Founders and the rest of our lean team, as we navigate Journee through this period of change.

As the most senior individual within Product, you will be reporting directly to Megha, our Co-Founder (Product, Operations and Insights), with a dotted line to Ed (Co-Founder, Marketing, Brand, Design and Growth). You’ll also be working very closely with our Technical Co-Founder James.

You will be a trusted manager to the junior Product team member, coaching them as they grow into a world-class PM. You will have previous experience in leading successful product launches and are excited to do it all again!

You are

  • Someone who thrives in an ambiguous, fast-paced startup environment. You are able to wear many hats, seamlessly moving between analysing data, conducting user interviews, diving deep into design nuances and translating the why and what into technical requirements.
  • Someone who loves to invent and simplify. You break down complex requirements to their simplest form and build simple, impactful solutions.
  • Infinitely curious and seasoned at user research. You have strong detective skills and your superpower is customer listening - by understanding users at all stages of the funnel, you find insights hidden in plain sight. You genuinely love to speak with customers and identify their core motivations and concerns.
  • Ruthless at prioritising needle-moving projects. You are systematic and focused when identifying what to work on next. You are also great at mapping out the best path to launch and have the knack of knowing when to experiment, when to use customer insight, and when to follow intuition.
  • A strong communicator, both written and verbally, and an exceptional coordinator. You make sure different teams are moving along and that the launch timelines don’t get derailed.
  • Detail-oriented with an exceptional ability to get into the nitty gritty, spot dependencies, predict and plan for edge cases and provide well thought out suggestions and requirements to our Tech team.

You Have

  • Exceptional project management skills, and have worked with multiple cross-functional stakeholders within a B2C startup environment.
  • Proven experience of efficiently managing Product Development across the lifecycle; from ideating product requirements, and managing projects from conception to production in a timely fashion.
  • A high degree of ownership and accountability. You love to go searching for issues and mining for data, in addition to executing on solutions for known issues. Ultimately, you hold yourself and the team responsible for delivering results to a deadline.
  • A proactive mindset, with the foresight to predict and optimise for mid-to-long term outcomes instead of bandaging as a default.
  • The courage to make important decisions and choices after evaluating the trade-offs.
  • Bonus if you have experience within one (or more!) of the following:
  1. the travel tech industry
  2. app-building experience
  3. have worked with both physical and digital products, and understand the nuances and challenges of both types of environments.
  4. 💫 Double bonus points if you have worked with low-usage frequency products, with long feedback cycles. 💫

What You'll Do

  • In a nutshell, you will be scaling a much-loved and exceptionally highly rated experience. You’ll drive product innovations to increase user activation and lead conversion for a beloved product.
  • Partner with our Co-Founders Megha, Ed and James to create, drive and implement the Product Management strategy, including US expansion and the push to profitability.
  • Hands-on customer listening and user research - you will be speaking with customers regularly to understand their needs, motivations and reasons for drop offs. Based on the learnings, you’ll implement product changes that substantially increase the number of people booking a trip and get more people experiencing the core product.
  • Cross-functional project management; everything from strategising, to driving implementation with cross functional teams, to analysis, reporting and optimising.
  • Identify and research customer pain points, then subsequently create and implement strategies to minimise drop-off.
  • Manage, coach and collaborate with a wonderfully talented Journee employee as they transition from the Community team into ****Product Management role.
  • Work closely with tech and the broader Journee team to drive well-researched launches and updates to our offering.

Benefits

  • Be part of an early-stage team building a next-generation travel company, working alongside the founders.
  • We’re fairly flexible on amount of time spent in the office vs working from home (we’ve got a private office in a co-working space in Bethnal Green, East London)
  • Employee options (you’ll own a piece of Journee!)
  • Minimum 25 days holiday + bank holidays (we’re flexible)
  • And so that you can experience more of the product first hand, it only seems right that every employee should enjoy a Journee trip worth £1000, on us, every year!

Application process

  1. Apply by clicking Apply to send your CV and a short paragraph as to why you'd like to join Journee to Annie, our Talent Lead.
  2. Initial chat with Annie, our Talent Lead.
  3. A video call with Megha, our Co-Founder (Product, Operations, Insights).
  4. A short task that you will present to our 3 Co-Founders, Ed, Megha, and James.
  5. 'Culture add' chat - you can visit the office and meet with the wider team.

Thank you so much for your interest in Journee - if this opportunity sounds interesting, then please do get in touch.

We are looking forward to receiving your application - good luck!

Journee is passionate about championing diversity, and we are an Equal Opportunity Employer. We welcome applications from those of all backgrounds and walks of life.
