About the role
We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Dementia Specialist to join our team. The role is part-time only requiring a few hours a week and may suit someone who is a retired professional.
As a Dementia Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing specialised support to families supporting a loved one living with dementia. Support is provided through developing and delivering webinars or informative videos on a bi-weekly or monthly basis initially. Your primary responsibility will be to enhance the quality of life for individuals with dementia by sharing your knowledge and being a source of sound advice to our customers looking for help.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver informative presentations on living with dementia in the form of webinars or videos.
- Provide education and support to individuals with dementia and their families, offering guidance on coping strategies and navigating the challenges associated with dementia
- Have the confidence to answer any questions asked around dementia following a live webinar.
- Assist in the development and implementation of dementia-specific programs and activities, promoting cognitive stimulation, social engagement, and overall well-being
- Stay updated on the latest research, best practices, and advancements in dementia care, participating in continuing education and professional development opportunities
- Advocate for the rights and needs of individuals with dementia, promoting person-centred care and a dementia-friendly environment
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., nursing, psychology, social work) preferred
- Experience working with individuals with dementia, preferably in a clinical or community setting
- In-depth knowledge of dementia-related conditions, symptoms, and progression
- Strong understanding of person-centred care principles and how they should be applied in practice
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and support individuals with dementia and their families
- Empathy, patience, and compassion when delivering information to individuals supporting someone on their dementia journey.
