Role Summary

  • Lead strategic people initiatives and align them with the company's business objectives.
  • Directly report to the CEO and participate in high-level decision-making.
  • Drive organisational change and foster a culture of engagement and productivity.
  • Manage the People (HR) budget and performance management systems.
  • Develop and optimise employee development and retention strategies.

  • Lead the Talent Manager and Team Assistant, promoting a high-performance culture.
  • Facilitate strategy planning and OKR setting to ensure company alignment.

Role Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in People/HR management.
  • Proven leadership in a growing business environment.
  • Strong strategic, adaptable, and open-minded approach.
  • Excellent emotional intelligence and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience in start-up/scale-up environments is a bonus.
  • Familiar with multi-site and customer-facing businesses.

As the Head of People at Runway East, you’ll be instrumental in crafting and leading our strategic people initiatives, aligning them with our overall mission and business objectives. 

In this pivotal role as a key member of the leadership team, reporting directly to the CEO, your insights and strategies will play a crucial role in steering company-wide decisions and spearheading organisational change. Your leadership will be instrumental in sculpting our culture and team dynamics, ensuring our people are not only engaged and productive but also enjoy rewarding careers. You will uphold a scalable business unit that resonates with our ambitious growth plans, aligning our people strategy with the company's overarching vision.

Requirements

Who You Are

  • A seasoned People/HR expert with 8+ years experience in the field
  • You’ve lead a people department before at a growing business 
  • A strategic visionary - you can craft a compelling vision that aligns seamlessly with our mission
  • ​​Adaptable and open-minded,  able to work in a fast paced environment and roll with the punches
  • A people champion – your emotional intelligence and relationship-building skills are unrivalled.
  • A skilled mentor and coach, fostering a culture of growth and continuous improvement.
  • Decisive and accountable, learning from every outcome.
  • Organised and methodical, passionate about optimising and iterating processes.

What you’ll be doing?

Heading up Organisational Strategy & Design:

  • Lead strategic talent acquisition plans, perfectly aligned with our ambitious growth objectives.
  • Manage the People (HR) budget, ensuring resource allocation is as effective as a Swiss Army knife.
  • Implement and refine performance management systems, fostering a culture of high achievement.
  • Scale People operations efficiently, navigating changes with the ease of a seasoned pilot.

Develop & Optimise People Initiatives:

  • Design professional development initiatives and performance management processes to boost employee engagement and productivity.
  • Develop and implement retention strategies, focusing on employee recognition.
  • Ensure HR operations are legally compliant, with the aid of our trusted legal advisors.
  • Implement well-being initiatives, creating a work environment that's as nurturing as a greenhouse.
  • Improve Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion across the team strategically.
  • Use data and insights to make informed decisions in People strategy and operations.

Keeper of Culture and Inspirational Leadership:

  • Uphold and embody the company culture, setting a standard that's as high as Everest.
  • Serve as an inspirational figure within the organisation, guiding and motivating the team.

Team Leadership:

  • Lead the Talent Manager and Team Assistant, aligning their roles with broader HR objectives.
  • Promote a culture of high performance and accountability.
  • Support your team's professional development, enhancing their skills and career progression.

OKR Setting and Strategy Facilitation:

  • Facilitate annual strategy planning sessions, setting and tracking impactful OKRs.
  • Ensure alignment of OKRs with the company's strategic vision.
  • Make the goal-setting process engaging and rewarding.
  • Familiarity with 'Scaling Up' methodologies is a bonus.
