Feeding Britain is working towards a future where no one in the UK goes hungry, and where food banks are a thing of the past. The Project Officer will contribute to that vision by supporting the delivery of Feeding Britain’s frontline work. Due to the varied nature of Feeding Britain’s work, this is a job that is likely to develop over time. The Project Officer will join a small, hard working and passionate team at Feeding Britain.

Main responsibilities:

  • Leading on Feeding Britain’s data collection and reporting from frontline projects including gathering, recording and summarising qualitative and quantitative reporting.
  • Supporting the National Director and Deputy Director in reporting to funders on the outcomes and impact of frontline projects.
  • Working with the Finance Officer to administer grants to frontline projects including writing funding agreements and reviewing, filing and recording due diligence paperwork.
  • Attending local partner meetings as required, both in person and online to provide updates and relevant support to frontline projects.
  • Writing a monthly Feeding Britain update to share in partner meetings.
  • Coordinating Feeding Britain’s six-monthly series of online regional partner meetings.
  • Delivery of standalone projects, such as ad hoc and ongoing volunteering programmes, including working with corporate supporters and funders.
  • Aligning these activities with the work of the National Director, Deputy Director, Finance Officer, and Communications Officer, in pursuit of Feeding Britain’s strategic objectives.

Person specification

Essential:

  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
  • An ability to manage competing priorities and a busy workload.
  • A firm understanding of, and commitment to, Feeding Britain’s vision and strategic priorities.
  • Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal.
  • Highly motivated with an ability to work well independently and as part of a small team. Able to use their own initiative to work efficiently.
  • Very confident with IT including the full Microsoft and Google packages, in particular the use of spreadsheets and shared documents.
  • A fast learner, able to quickly understand the role and hit the ground running.
  • Able to undertake travel within the UK. We anticipate around 1 travel day per week. This may include overnight stays.

Desirable:

  • Some previous work experience in a project-based role.
  • Some previous work experience within the charity sector, food insecurity sector, and / or a network organisation.
