Neal’s Yard Dairy is an independent business that has been selling artisan cheeses from Britain and Ireland since 1979. As leaders within our industry, we sell the finest cheeses to our customers within the UK and around the world.
We are recruiting a Communications Coordinator to work on a Part Time Basis (3 days per week). The job holder will work with their manager, our designer and other stakeholders to organise and administer Neal’s Yard Dairy’s communications activities in a variety of areas. Depending on the circumstance, our audiences may include our colleagues and suppliers, our wholesale and retail customers, and anyone looking for fascinating, reliable information about cheese, its production, maturation, and consumption.
An important part of this role is to develop and deliver the company’s campaigns across social media platforms. We are looking to use these platforms to give users behind-the-scenes insight into our company ethos and why what we do is special and unique. Platforms currently in use include Instagram, Facebook, X and Pinterest, though there is the capacity for this list to evolve over time, and the job holder will play a key role in our decision making in this area. In keeping with this, they will also play a key role in monitoring and reporting on the level of engagement of our audience and defining other key metrics of our success.
The Communications Coordinator will organise and maintain our Media Library so that we have resources that are easy to access, filter and use. They will also digitize our archive material and store it appropriately. Their responsibilities also extend to facilitating the appropriate use of our images and videos, be that by our wholesale customers, cheesemakers or to promote and protect Neal’s Yard Dairy’s brand.
Additionally, the job holder will filter and respond to press and marketing related enquiries. Where appropriate they will delegate the responsibility of follow up to other specialists within the business.
Reporting to the Technical Director, the successful candidate does not have to come to the job as an expert in cheese. Rather, they need to possess an interest to learn about the subject matter and then work with people throughout the business to find ways to tell the stories behind what we do; sharing the company’s mission, core work, special projects and activities in a way that is easily accessed, fascinating and inspiring.
