Role Summary

  • Manage daily operations: opening, closing, cashing up, banking, and reporting.
  • Administer the online shop, timely dispatch goods, and support events organization.
  • Interact with visitors, recruit new members, and collaborate with management to identify new opportunities.
  • Design in-store and window visual merchandising.

Role Requirements

  • Excellent verbal communication skills and positive attitude.
  • Competent IT skills with availability to work weekends and some evenings.
  • Confidence when working alone and ability to act on own initiative.
  • Experience in customer service and familiarity with ecommerce platforms like Shopify.
  • Preference for individuals living in or around Pitlochry.

Application Process Details

  • A competitive salary of £10,019 per year plus 5% pension contribution.
  • 14 days of holiday plus 2 'wild days' for sustainable travel.
  • Part-time contract working 14 hours per week, including weekends and some evenings.

The John Muir Trust is the UK charity dedicated to the protection of wild places. We are currently experiencing an exciting period of growth and are seeking an enthusiastic individual to join our team at the Wild Space Visitor Centre in Pitlochry. This role is crucial in enhancing our customer experience and raising awareness about the importance of nature and wildness.

The role: As a Visitor Centre Assistant, you will be responsible for the daily operations of the centre, including opening and closing, cashing up the till, weekly banking, and daily reporting. You will also assist with the administration of our online shop, ensure timely dispatch of goods, and support the organization of events. Engaging with visitors to provide a fulfilling experience and actively recruiting new members to the Trust are key aspects of this role. Additionally, you will collaborate with management to identify new artists and product opportunities and have the opportunity to design in-store and shop window visual merchandising.

Job requirements: The ideal candidate will have excellent verbal communication skills, a positive attitude, and a motivation to learn. Competent IT skills are essential, and you must be willing to work weekends and some evenings. Confidence in working alone and the ability to act on your own initiative are also required. Experience in a customer-focused environment and familiarity with ecommerce platforms like Shopify are desirable. Living in or around Pitlochry is preferred.

Benefits: The position offers a salary of £10,019 per annum with a pension contribution of 5% to the group auto-enrolment scheme. You will be entitled to 14 days of holiday per year, plus an additional 2 'wild days' for sustainable travel. This part-time contract requires working 14 hours per week, including weekends and some evenings.
