Role Summary

  • Oversee payroll, people administration, and collective labor relations across multiple countries.

Role Requirements

  • Experience in Payroll and HR Operations in an international context, preferably in the Tech industry.
  • Knowledge of employment law in France, USA, and UK.
  • Skilled in process modernization and scaling HR operations.
  • Strategic thinker with meticulous execution abilities.
  • Team player with strong management and cross-functional collaboration skills.

We are actively seeking our future Head of People Operations.

YOUR MISSIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The People Operations team aims at building a positive employee experience by putting the focus on employees, rather than on processes, and empowers them to excel. By designing and implementing successful and efficient programs, you play a central role in supporting employees at every stage of their journey. Your team acts as a pivotal shared services center, providing seamless support to people, propelling the teams towards sustainable and scalable growth.

The Head of People Operations key responsibilities:


  • Maps employee journey touch points & continually improve them


  • Oversees the day-to-day activities of the HR Operations Department


  • Reports and tracks HR service delivery to ensure an optimal employee experience and cost-efficient service delivery


  • Design, monitor and improve HR processes, policies and technologies over time


The Head of People Operations oversees the successful execution of HR processes and technologies including, but not limited to work contracts, leaves management, working hours, payroll, benefits, immigration, labor compliance, training administration, collective labor relations. Your focus extends globally, ensuring compliance with local labor laws, and optimizing operations in all countries within Openclassrooms' footprint (currently France, USA, UK, Portugal, and Spain)

Payroll and Personnel Administration:


  • Manage employee payroll efficiently, resolve errors and handle payment issues


  • Prepare reports for appraisals


  • Collaborate with the Finance department


  • Handle all relationship with employees regarding those matters


Relations with employee Representatives:


  • Advise CHRO on legal aspects


  • Monitor and ensure compliance with the social calendar


  • Hold agenda for council meetings, prepare documents and data


  • Collaborate on agreements with employee representatives


Legal Compliance:


  • Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations


  • Comply with data protection laws


  • Secure employee data


  • Regularly review and update policies


Compensation and Benefits:


  • Manage compensation and benefits programs, including salary structures, bonus programs, and health and welfare benefits


  • Develop and maintain competitive and fair compensation policies globally


  • Establish transparent skill-based salary structures


  • Conduct regular compensation reviews


  • Recommend and administer employee benefits transparently


Tools & Systems


  • Maximize efficiency and upscale processes, including proposing new or improved tools and systems to support the organization’s needs


  • Monitor, interconnect, configure OpenClassrooms’ HR platforms & systems such as HRIS (Bamboo), payroll system (ADP), Performance management tool (Lattice), mental health (Teale), benefit providers, etc.


  • Design and implement all required automation of processes in these tools, ensure full integration with other systems such as Finance tools (Anaplan, NetSuite) as an example


  • Oversee the different systems and ensure data accuracy and integrity


Data & KPIs


  • Monitor and analyze HR metrics and provide regular reports and dashboard to senior management and Board on HR operations and trends


  • Collaborate across the People Team to create and continuously fine-tune programs using data and metrics, feedback loops, and detailed analyses to support the company’s strategy


  • Build analytics capability to ensure key stakeholders have the right insight to manage informed decision making and work along with them to recommend appropriate corrective action plans


Employee Journey


  • Manage the entire employee journey and its touchpoints


  • Analyze level of efficiency & simplicity of each of them, and work on them to get bigger impact and increase employee engagement (ENPS) and satisfaction


Team Management: Lead the People Operations team, fostering a collaborative and results-oriented environment.

You will be reporting directly to Stéphanie Fraise, our CHRO, who heads the People Team.
The team is dedicated to creating a thriving environment at OpenClassrooms, ensuring that team members excel in their current roles and future career paths, thereby contributing significantly to our mission of accessible education.

With 10 members, the People Team is organized into different functions, including People Operations, People Success Partners, People Project Management and Talent Acquisition.
Your role involves direct management of the People Operations team, a dynamic Team composed with two People Operations Specialists.



ABOUT YOU


  • Proven experience and excellent skills in Payroll, employment law and HR Operations preferably in the Tech industry, within an international setting


  • Knowledge of payroll rules and employment law in the following countries: France, USA and UK. Any other country is a plus


  • Leadership and management skills with proven experience in building and leading a strong team


  • Cross-functional collaboration skills within multicultural environments


  • Knowledge, tech savviness and enthusiasm for new technologies (AI or others) to identify the necessary tools to modernize, automate & scale processes


  • Strategic thinking and hands-on execution, seamlessly integrating insights with practical application and emphasizing effective process management


  • Meticulous, rigorous, detailed-oriented, and methodical approach, coupled with strong data analytics and problem solving skills


  • Team player with strong proven business partnering, putting internal customers at the center of every decision


  • Communication and influencing skills to efficiently partner with leaders


  • Flexibility, ability to make decisions quickly in various circumstances


  • Ability to work autonomously and collaborate effectively with other departments
