Role Summary

  • Work in an agile tech team to integrate quality into the development process.
  • Develop and maintain new microservices.
  • Leverage the benefits of public cloud technologies.
  • Engage in technical discussions and decision-making.

Role Requirements

  • Deep knowledge of Java 8+, JVM, and Java annotation.
  • Experience with Microservices and RESTful APIs.
  • Commercial experience in Spring Boot and Spring Data including Spring Data JPA.
  • Familiarity with testing frameworks such as JUnit, Mockito, and Wiremock.
  • Proficiency in Docker/Kubernetes.
  • Experience with database management, preferably MySQL.
  • Strong team player with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Understanding of enterprise application coding.
  • Experience in continuous integration/delivery environments.
  • Familiarity with JIRA or similar bug tracking systems.

Advantageous Skills

  • Knowledge of Spring Cloud Stream RabbitMQ.
  • Cloud Deployment experience.

We are on a mission to make every kid smart with money and to delight our community of 2 million parents, kids, and teens with innovative, market-leading tools to help parents raise financially healthy kids. 

GoHenry offers a debit card and app for kids and teens and companion apps for the family, with in-app tools for sending money, automating allowance, managing chores, setting savings goals, giving to charity, and in-app financial education lessons where kids can watch videos, take quizzes and earn points & badges. This is all designed to help kids and teens build good money habits that will last a lifetime. 

We’re looking for an excellent back-end Java developer to help build on our next-generation platform. Commercial experience with developing scalable code is required. 

What you’ll do 

  • Work as part of cross-functional, friendly, agile tech team to ensure quality is driven into the development process.¬†
  • Develop/maintain new microservices.¬†
  • Utilise the benefits provided by public cloud.¬†
  • Take part in technical discussions and be part of the decision making process

What we’re looking for 

  • Excellent knowledge of Java 8 onwards, underlying JVM, java annotation
  • Microservices and RESTful APIs¬†
  • Spring Boot commercial experience¬†
  • Spring Data inc Spring Data JPA commercial experience¬†
  • JUnit, Mockito and Wiremock experience¬†
  • Docker/Kubernetes experience¬†
  • Proven exposure to full life cycle development including monitoring production services
  • Database experience (MySQL)¬†
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team


  • Spring Cloud Stream RabbitMQ¬†
  • Cloud Deployment experience¬†
  • Experience working in a continuous integration or continuous delivery environment using Jenkins, TeamCity, Bitbucket Pipelines or equivalent tools¬†
  • Understanding of coding enterprise applications within Java¬†
  • Experience in bug tracking systems, with a preference for in-depth knowledge of JIRA

1) Call with Engineering Director - Back End & People Partner (30 minutes)

2) Take home Java Assessment

3) Technical interview (1 Hour)
