Role Summary

  • Implement and execute the product vision and strategy in alignment with the VP of Research Products.
  • Drive New Product Introduction and manage product life cycles, including long-term planning.
  • Lead cross-functional collaborations to ensure commercial success.
  • Manage a team responsible for full life cycle management of products from conceptualization to commercialization.
  • Forecast product revenue and growth, managing the P&L for the ioCells Research Products portfolio.
  • Develop pricing strategies and identify potential portfolio gaps.
  • Ensure resources are allocated efficiently across development pipelines.
  • Represent customer perspectives in interdisciplinary project teams.
  • Travel up to 25% as needed.

Role Requirements

  • BSc in a relevant scientific field or equivalent experience.
  • Proven leadership in product management within the Life Sciences industry.
  • Strategic application of scientific knowledge for commercial success.
  • Exemplary analytical, problem-solving, and prioritization skills.
  • Experience with complex project delivery and business performance improvement.
  • Expertise in sales, marketing, and competitive strategy.
  • Desirable: Neuro/Immune/Toxicology clinical background and/or a PhD in Life Sciences.

Your role in our team:

bit.bio is looking for an experienced Director of Product Management to join our commercial team. Reporting to the VP of Research Products, the Director of Product Management is responsible for the development and delivery of bit.bio’s ioCells research portfolio (including CNS, Immune, Tox models) ensuring product quality, commercial success and alignment with our overall product vision & strategy and by extension be a critical contributor to the Products strategy at bit.bio.

You will be excited by the idea of an agile, collaborative culture where ideas are explored and change can happen quickly. Above all, you need a great passion for product development, with the strategic thinking to define platform capabilities that meet and exceed customer expectations. 

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Working closely with the VP of Research Products and with their associated team, to implement and execute agreed Product vision & strategy. 
  • Driving New Product Introduction (NPI) development, Product life-cycle management and responsibility for the development of a long-term product/NPI road map including project prioritisation. 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams within bit.bio to ensure alignment and commercial success. 
  • Management responsibility for a product management team that will deliver full life cycle management (conceptualisation to commercialisation), positioning, competitive intelligence and new product delivery, ensuring we maximise revenue and profit growth from our Research Products business. In addition, your team will work closely with marketing within bit.bio to produce marketing and technical literature on time and that is impactful. 
  • Looking beyond where the market is today and creating strong business cases to select the best ideas/concepts before they become products/features. 
  • Own the P&L for the ioCells Research Products portfolio line including the ownership of product pricing, forecasting and ROI. Work with R&D, procurement, supply chain, logistics and sales to maintain attractive economics.
  • Develop pricing strategies to successfully position products in the marketplace. 
  • Identify potential gaps in our portfolio, inspire senior stakeholders as a product management evangelist and shape the debate around product features. 
  • Work with R&D and manufacturing to ensure proper resource allocation across development pipelines in alignment with short and long-term strategy.
  • Work in interdisciplinary project teams as the voice of customer throughout all project phases from requirements setting to the launch of new cell types.
  • Define product online presence in line with product marketing objectives. Work with digital e-commerce marketing on product search engine and paid advertising optimization.
  • Work with supply chain on demand planning and process optimization to ensure fast delivery of goods.
  • Willingness to travel (up to 25%).

You…

  • Have a BSc qualification in a relevant scientific subject or equivalent experience.
  • Have worked in a product management leadership role with a strong background in product management or strategic marketing roles, within the Life Sciences industry, preferably from the commercial products/services sectors.
  • Have a strong foundation in science, coupled with the ability to apply this knowledge strategically to drive commercial success. 
  • Have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to juggle and prioritise multiple work streams. 
  • Are independent, tenacious and driven to succeed with a good command of English written and verbal communication skills.

With essential experience in…

  • Track record of success in launching new, complex products and achieving excellent business results; developing and implementing marketing and go-to-market/commercialisation strategies that have consistently met or exceeded planned objectives. 
  • Product/New Product Introduction within an ISO setting. 
  • Strong strategic planning and analysis skills in sales, marketing, and business (competitive) strategy. KOL development and management.
  • Working within cross functional teams and have experience of leading cross functional teams to deliver results. 
  • Ability to effectively communicate value proposition and technical information to a range of customer and internal audiences required. Experience developing and presenting marketing materials required.
  • Delivering complex projects to meet demanding feature, cost, quality and introduction date targets.
  • Track record of driving improvement in business performance.
  • Product Maintenance: ongoing care and support of product line, including monitoring customer satisfaction, competitor activity, new customer needs and sales support materials, product changes. 
  • Commercial awareness is vital, supported by a real enthusiasm for pushing the boundaries of innovation.

  • Neuro/Immune/Toxicology clinical development background is desirable. 
  • A PhD in a Life Sciences subject is desirable (or equivalent experience).
