Role overview

We’re looking for a talented Backend Developer to join our fast-growing engineering team.

Reporting to and working closely with our Head of Engineering, your day-to-day will involve helping with the development of our backend platform, database, API and our team and customer facing tools, including our internal Dashboard.

You’ll be an active member of our tech team, working closely with our native iOS and Android engineers, and play a key role in our product development lifecycle to deliver new features.

With endless opportunities for growth in this role, you’ll build hands-on experience in a fast paced, and innovative mobile engineering environment. You’ll use the best tech to help us build, and take our product to the next level.

This role is primarily focused on backend development, however there may be some opportunities to work with frontend environments, too.

In this role, you’ll:

• Work closely with our native mobile developers (iOS and Android) to add backend support for upcoming features 
• Play a key role in our product development lifecycle to deliver new features and improvements with fast and frequent deployments to keep our customers happy
• Contribute to, and evolve our DevOps processes
• Help to identify and eradicate bugs, and resolve issues raised by our Customer Support team 

About you: 

• At least 2 years experience using Typescript, as well as experience working with high performance databases and RESTful APIs
• You have an appetite to learn, and are excited by the prospect of up-skilling on the job
• You have some experience or knowledge of working in a startup environment
• You’re happy working independently and as part of a team to get the job done
• You’re an effective communicator, and excited to contribute in group discussions

Bonus points if:

• Experience using the Google Cloud Platform

Engineering at Honest

We’ve built a modern and feature-rich API on Nest.JS, a powerful database architecture, and a host of smart and innovative technology platforms to help us achieve super-scale.

We use Typescript for the majority of our work, and follow industry best practices to guide our software development lifecycle. On occasion we break out Python for quick scripting tasks, and utilise other tools in our toolbox to get the job done.

As a team, we challenge ourselves to do great work. We collaborate closely to review each other’s code and deliver constructive feedback, to ensure that we use our collective experience, and knowledge to achieve the best results.

💸 Salary: £45,000-£55,000
