Volunteer Tech Co-Founder Mental Health Start-Up

What will you be doing?

Miricyl is dedicated to supporting children, young people, and their families affected by mental illness. 75% of young people in the UK, and even more in developing countries, do not receive the specialized care they need. Our platform offers a comprehensive solution called supported self-management, endorsed by the NHS. This includes education, self-help techniques, and signposting resources for young people and their families. Our user-friendly, e-commerce-style interface ensures that accessing these resources is straightforward and intuitive. In addition, we aim to collect data to refine our services continually. By leveraging advanced AI techniques similar to those used by Netflix, we aspire to provide each new user with a customized selection of resources tailored to their specific needs. Shortly we aim to confirm a partnership with a charity in South Africa, who will be using our technology and their branding to serve people in South Africa with a population of 54m. We have also been designing a self service treatment plan so that users can create their own gamified journey to recovery.

What are we looking for?

Our current tech stack uses WordPress and Elasticsearch. Because this was more cost effective to prototype in. You could choose your own custom code solution. 

What difference will you make?

One million young people are affected by mental illness but less than 20% get treated in the NHS or are on long waiting lists. We want to help them. We have developed the concept for our app to help young people affected by mental illness. We have an MVP would like to advice on how to use Elasticsearch effectively and cost-efficiently. We want to use this to promote the right information and recommend the right treatments for young people.
