Role Requirements

  • 2-4 years of management experience in People & Culture or HR.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources.
  • Knowledge of both South African and UK HR frameworks and labor laws.
  • Strong data literacy and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to independently adhere to UK working hours (09 - 00-18 - 00 GMT).

Overview Houst is seeking a dedicated Human Resources Manager to lead and enhance our HR operations and strategy. This role is based in Cape Town, Western Cape, South Africa, offering a hybrid working model. As a pivotal part of our team, you will report directly to the Managing Director, manage a small team, and oversee all aspects of the employee lifecycle including onboarding, development, engagement, and retention.

The Role As the Human Resources Manager at Houst, you will be responsible for leading global People & Culture initiatives such as engagement, performance management, learning, and wellbeing. You will collaborate with leadership to shape our organizational strategy, structure, and workforce planning. Your tasks will include managing the full employee lifecycle from recruitment to offboarding, analyzing HR data to drive improvements, and ensuring efficient HR operations and compliance.

Requirements The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2-4 years of management experience in People & Culture or HR, and a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources. You should have practical experience with both South African and UK HR frameworks and labor laws, preferably gained in startups or scale-ups. Strong data literacy and excellent interpersonal skills are essential, as well as the ability to work independently and adhere to UK working hours (09:00-18:00 GMT).
