Previous trustee experience would be an advantage although this not necessary, as we offer an induction and support program.

What are we looking for?

We looking for a Trustee with the skills and experience to advice and  assist our staff in any legal, regulatory or policy issue that might arise. Knowledge of chairty commission guidelines and reporting requirements would be beneficial as would previous experience of policy issues such as GDPR, health and safety and safeguarding.

What difference will you make?

Mediation Surrey provides an important public service to the residents of Surrey. It is largely funded by the Police, local, borough and County Councils and Housing Associations because of the complementary role it plays in helping these organisations to attain their goals. Specifically, community mediation helps solve neighbourhood disputes and issues of anti-social behaviour before they can escalate into more serious problems. Intergenerational mediation helps solve family disputes, typically between a teenager and their parents, before it becomes an issue for social services. Support coaching builds resilience in victims of anti-social behaviour to help them cope with the situation.  We expect this trustee to be a key player in developing the strategy for the growth of the charity with specific responsibility for governance and policy to help ensure compliance with charity commission and government regulations and reqirements. Given many of Mediation Surrey's funders and referrers are public bodies, such as the police, social services, borough councils and housing associations, maintaining the good standing of the charity is crucial.
