What will you be doing?

Our vision is of a society where nothing that can be re-used goes to waste; where people do not have to rely on donations to access food and other essential items; where people who find themselves facing hardship receive the support they need; and where everyone can make a home. Aims and objectives The Hub's core purpose is twofold: 1. The prevention or relief of poverty primarily but not exclusively in South East London by providing: grants, items and services to individuals in need and/or charities or other organisations working to prevent or relieve poverty 2. To promote for the public benefit primarily but not exclusively in South East London the protection and preservation of the environment by working to minimise waste and achieve reductions in greenhouse gas emissions and raw material use through the provision of community resource sharing, re-use and repair initiatives We are looking for trustees who: ● Share our vision ● Enjoy working collectively ● Commit to regularly attending (face to face or virtually) board meetings, paid travel expenses. ● Are willing to contribute additional time to lead specific tasks, if needed ● Have strong communication, interpersonal and leadership skills ● Are imaginative with creative problem-solving skills ● Are open to listening and learning ● Are willing to take collective responsibility for the governance of the charity ● Have the ability to analyse risks and opportunities ● Take a balanced approach to organisational governance ● Are committed to ensure the organisation is successful on its journey. Duties of the trustees include: ● Ensuring that LDH complies with guidelines, charity law, and any other legislation or regulations. ● Ensuring that LDH acts in line with its governing document and that the resources of LDH are used only to pursue legitimate objectives. ● Monitoring the financial position and ensuring that LDH operates within its means. ● Ensuring the financial integrity and stability of LDH. ● Contributing to the strategic direction and development of LDH. ● Maintaining the good name and values of LDH. ● Building and maintaining effective networks on behalf of LDH

What are we looking for?

We are particularly keen to hear from you if you have either lived experience or work experience (present or past)  in one of more of the following areas: ● Living in poverty ● Alleviating poverty ● Seeking asylum ● Living as a refugee ● Homelessness ● Sustainability, particularly re-use ● Finance/fund raising ●  Charity development ● Charity governance

What difference will you make?

Our current Trustees are looking forward to you joining us and adding to our skills set and life experiences. As part of our trustee board you will liaise with other trustees, volunteers and employed staff to support and ensure the charity is following its objectives. The role of a trustee with lived experiencer is so important to us - not only do we need someone to keep us on track and informed but even more significantly, we are looking for someone to help us formulate our vision for the future. The role of a trustee  with experience of charity growth is so important for us to develop our objectives and charity for the future. The roles of a trustee with experience of fundraising and fundraising strategy is so important for us to develop LDH to fulfil our objectives. This trustee will liaise directly with the charities fundraising working party. The role of all trustees is valued and appreciated. We understand that different people take on different roles and have different amounts of time to volunteer.
