What will you be doing?
Working with two internal trustees and two other external trustees, this role is responsible for:
Overall governance and strategic direction of the Foundation – developing its aims, objectives and goals in accordance with the governing document and legal and regulatory guidelines. Directing the affairs of the Foundation and ensuring that it is solvent, well-run and delivers its charitable objects for public benefit. Attending quarterly meetings at our Leeds office, (we alternate between virtual and face-to-face meetings) for which preparation will be needed. Supporting the grant giving process alongside other Trustees (approx. 2 hour long virtual meetings per year.
What are we looking for?
While we’re keen to hear from a variety of candidates suited to the role, following a recent skills audit, those with experience of working within smaller charities and those supporting marginalised communities would be well suited to the role. Additionally, a background in marketing, accounting or auditing would also be of benefit to strengthen our Board. We’re committed to creating a board which is representative of the communities we support, bringing together those with a variety of skills and experiences, to help shape what we do and how we work. We’re particularly keen to hear from candidates from marginalised communities. Although this is an unpaid, voluntary role, we want everyone to be able to access the opportunity, so reasonable expenses are offered, such as travel, care or accessibility costs.

This year, the board are undertaking a strategic review of its purpose to become more strategic in their grant giving. As a trustee, you will have a real opportunity to offer your unique skill set to help the strategic direction of the charity and directly contribute to these objectives.
