What will you be doing?
The Dusty Shed is part of a worldwide movement called ‘Men’s Sheds’, however we do not restrict membership only to men. We operate a well-equipped woodworking workshop where men and women can work on practical projects like woodworking or almost anything else (within reason) they’re interested in, or simply turn up for coffee and a chat. Our main goal is to improve people’s health and well-being by reducing loneliness and isolation. We focus mainly on men and women aged 50 years or older who live in Ely, Caerau, and the surrounding areas of Cardiff. Key Responsibilities: Preparing annual accounts in accordance with the Charity Commission's guidelines. Management of petty cash. Developing financial forecasts to assist the trustee board in strategic decision-making. Collaborating on funding applications to ensure our continued success and growth. About You: You have a keen eye for detail and a passion for financial management. Experience in accounting or finance. You are comfortable working with spreadsheets and have a willingness to learn our bespoke system. You are a team player who is excited about contributing to a charitable cause. What we offer: A supportive and collaborative environment, with guidance from the outgoing treasurer. The opportunity to develop and apply your financial management skills for a great cause. An opportunity to make a tangible difference in the lives of those we serve. Flexible volunteering hours to fit around your personal commitments.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for accountancy skills and good general IT skills. We do not use accounting software but we use a bespoke Excel spreadsheet. Experience in preparing financial forecasts and good presentation skills would be useful
What difference will you make?
As our Volunteer Treasurer, your role will extend beyond just numbers and spreadsheets. You will be at the heart of our mission, directly contributing to the positive impact we have on the lives of those we serve. Your financial stewardship will ensure that we can continue offering vital services and support to older members of our community. We value not just your financial acumen but also your interpersonal skills. A patient demeanor and a sense of humour are essential in your interactions with the committee that runs the workshop. Your ability to engage warmly and empathetically with them will be as valuable as your financial skills.
