What will you be doing?

Renowned explorer, Sir David Hempleman-Adams, founded Wicked Weather Watch (WWW) as a result of the dramatic changes he has witnessed in the Arctic due to climate change over the last 30 years. The young people of today face some of the biggest climatic challenges our world has ever seen. We believe all young people deserve access to information about climate change, its impact, and how they can mitigate the effects on our wonderful world. Uniquely, WWW brings climate change to life through direct interaction with explorers, such as Sir David, and others who have visited the Arctic and seen first-hand how climate change is affecting the people and wildlife of the region. We inspire the next generation through our flagship school programme which offers Arctic multi-school events, explorer talks, and interactive climate change workshops. Since the launch of our schools programme in 2016 we have seen rapid growth and demand – expanding from working with just 15 schools to working with over 260 schools and more than 23,000 children. At this exciting stage in our development, we are seeking to expand our Board of Trustees to help achieve our ambitious goals. WWW is governed by a Board of Trustees and is run by one full-time staff member and a small group of volunteers and advisors. We work closely with scientists and other experts in finance and education as appropriate. We are seeking to fill two roles, the treasurer and the secretary role on our Board. Volunteering as a WWW Trustee is a unique and rewarding opportunity to contribute your knowledge and expertise to our small dynamic charity in times of growing concern about climate change. We are looking for passionate and committed individuals, especially, but not limited to, those with skills in the following areas: charity governance; finance; fundraising; marketing and communications; and accounting.

What are we looking for?

We are currently searching for individuals who are passionate and committed to climate change education and recognize the importance of educating young people about this crisis. We welcome experienced individuals, including those with expertise in charity governance, safeguarding, education, fundraising, and climate change education. Candidates with prior experience in finances and budget oversight, strategy development, personnel management, networking, and/or public relations would be valuable additions to our charity work.  We are seeking an applicant who is highly passionate about our cause and comprehends the significance of our charity.

What difference will you make?

Our school programme, launched in June 2016, has seen significant growth and demand. Due to this, we need to diversify our board of trustees and extend our range of support to staff, volunteers, and beneficiaries. As a member of our Board, you will play a crucial role in supporting and shaping our work, strategic direction, and achieving our purpose of educating young people about climate change. This role is essential in ensuring that we can continue to provide support to young people. As a trustee, you will have the opportunity to offer your unique skill set to help the charity's strategic progression. Since we are still a small charity with only one employee and a family of volunteers, your support and advice will be invaluable. Your contribution will help us expand the charity, taking the next steps in our development.
