Volunteer Researchers/ Archivists (Heritage Archives/Education)

What will you be doing?

They will be able to conduct research into the documentations of the archives at LMA. This will involve remote research and with occasional visits to the Archives in London We'd like to identify research on two topics for into projects and events for 2024/25  

What are we looking for?

Ideally, you will have two of the following experiences/skills:

Knowledge and understanding of the work and needs of the broader educational sector, where the African Caribbean heritage sector covers a range of areas (archives, publishing, community activism, schools and higher education, libraries, museums, galleries) Knowledge of issues currently facing young people on education, access, and community supplementary schools Experience of researching in archives or libraries Awareness about the work of independent charities with a focus on education, heritage and culture

What difference will you make?

We are a small team and so far we have a very good track record in delivering small-scale art and archive projects. We are keen to extend our reach across generations and to make more of the information available online. (Specifically annual Huntley conferences, symposia, schools workshops, plus a ground-breaking exhibition: www.nocolourbar.org ). Your input will shape how we present ourselves to our stakeholders, funders and general public. We are keen to build our capacity to develop educational projects with schools and communities. Your research skills and expertise will enable us to grow and scope new possibilities, activities and ways of working with partners. Our legacy means that we attract people from a range of backgrounds, but all who have a shared interest and value the contribution to current social, education, environmental improvements that Eric and Jessica Huntley have made across ALL communities, not only the African Caribbean Diaspora.
