What will you be doing?

See Me Play offers playschemes for neurodivergent children and families in Thanet. We are in the early stages of becoming a CIO.  We already have a great line up of Board members who are experts in the field of neurodivergence, play and education. However, we’re looking for someone with specific experience in the charity sector, ideally with an additional insight into business, to help set us up as a CIO and assist our Board members. With your help, we will get our governance and reporting procedures in order so we can become a great, sustainable charity into the future. We are looking for someone to attend the first few board meetings, and get us started in terms of governance, reporting and management accounts.  We are flexible with how long this position will be active for. We would love to have a temporary trustee for approx 1 year, and thus 4 Board Meetings, but there is scope for longer or shorter term positions. We are happy to talk about time commitments with you and figure something out that works for both of us.

What are we looking for?

- We are looking for a Trustee with previous experience being on a board for a charity  - Ideally, you will also have knowledge in accounting and finance for charities. - Ideally, you will based in Kent, but we can also meet online.  - experience as a temporary board member / setting up a charity is desirable but not essential.  - we are open to trustees with disparate backgrounds, but an interest in neurodivergence is preferable.  -

What difference will you make?

See Me Play was founded in April 2023 by Alice Davies after struggling to find neurodivergent affirming spaces in the local area. We have already seen a huge wave of positive feedback, and are so proud to bring this much needed service to the local area. Neurodivergent  families are too often isolated, and children are routinely told they are playing, learning and living "wrong." See Me wants to bring stimulating, safe, child-led play to these communities who sorely need a space to simply be themselves.  As part of our board, you will play a vital role in making See Me a sustainable, functional charity for years to come. Services like ours are few and far between, and we need sound governance and reporting procedures to achieve our vision of being a rigorous, long-lasting charity that takes play seriously.
