What will you be doing?
Trustees are directly involved in project work, wherever and however they can, but obviously the key thing we are looking at this point is experience in accountancy and bookkeeping to carry out the following over the long term:
Liaise with team to ensure the financial viability of the organisation Advise on/produce budgets for funding applications for grant funding Take a lead in interpreting financial data to fellow team members Manage ongoing financial paperwork and file annual accounts Regularly report the financial position at meetings (balance sheet, cash flow, fundraising performance etc) Oversee the production of an annual budget and propose its adoption at the last meeting of the previous financial year Ensure proper records are kept and that effective financial procedures and controls are in place Appraising the financial viability of plans, proposals and feasibility studies Lead on appointing and liaising with external consultants, auditors, accountants etc when necessary
These duties would not rule out any other involvement or responsibilities within the organisation, in fact taking on additional activities to the above list would be most welcome.
What are we looking for?
Vital points:
awareness of the serious nature of the crisis as per the UN IPCC reports (and the contrast to the approach taken by the UK and Net Zero 2050) ability and experience with financial reports, paperwork, bookkeeping, tax returns burning desire to see society make the best response possible to climate change opinion that the organisation's approach is one of the best available happily undertake both online and in-person activities
Nice-to-have:
broad knowledge of global warming, climate change and CO2 emissions in-depth knowledge in any areas flexibility and desire to turn your hand to any tasks
What difference will you make?
Along with the fundraiser(s), your role is crucial and the backbone of the organisation - no money, no organisation :O So you will be very much appreciated and of course as said above, you can have an impact in various other roles according to your skills and passions. At the end of the day, our trustees and volunteers are the ones driving our work forwards, and it is needed, of that there is no doubt.
