What will you be doing?

Merton CIL is the only pan-disability Disabled people's organisation based in Merton. In 2023, our board won the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion’ award at The UK Charity Governance Awards.  We all deserve to live free from discrimination, poverty and exclusion. However, many Deaf and Disabled people experience structural inequalities that impact our ability to live independently and have choice and control over our lives. Our organisation aims to work with Deaf and Disabled people and supporters of our aims to create more inclusive and equitable communities.  Over 50% of staff and 75% of our board are individuals with lived experience of the issues that we aim to address. Our services and work support Disabled people with a range of conditions. These conditions include physical conditions, long-term health conditions, mental health conditions, learning difficulties, sensory conditions and neurodiversity.  We are looking for individuals keen to push for social change to join our board.  Do you have:

Commitment to challenging the social barriers that disable individuals with health conditions.  Financial skills and experience (charity finance, finance, accounting, bookkeeping, financial operations etc). Fundraising skills. An interest in strategic development and steering the future direction of our charity.

If so, we want to hear from you!  We are keen to find a new trustees who shares our values and aims to make make change happen.    We can offer:

What difference will you make?

At Merton CIL, our work aims to promote the independence and inclusion of Disabled people, identify and challenge discrimination and work with local Disabled people to achieve change locally. By joining our board you will support work that is pushing for social change that creates more inclusive ad equitable communities for all. You will also challenge structural inequalities and use lived experience to push for lasting and impactful change that improves the lives of Disabled people and other groups. Last year our work contributed £876,234 to the local economy.
