Volunteer Arts-focused charity seeking a Trustee/Board director with legal experience

What will you be doing?

Our activities include gallery hire, art sales, fundraising, grant applications and retail. We are looking to expand our Board of Trustees to include someone with legal experience to complement the existing skills and experience of the Board. As with all charities growing our income is a major challenge, as is recruiting volunteers. We have two part time members of staff and a number of volunteers who operate in a range of roles from curation and installation to front of house. As we grow the charity we are looking to ensure that we are compliant and using best practice in all we do and a legal eye would help us do this. We are a small, friendly charity where everyone has an interest in contemporary art and craft and we are looking for someone who would enjoy working in a creative environment.

What are we looking for?

We are seeking someone from a legal background who can help us bring a more professional and compliant approach to everything we do, from artist contracts to fundraising. Ideally we would like someone who is also happy to provide some hands-on support wherever needed in supporting the staff and volunteers and/or taking ownership of specific projects to help us achieve our strategic objectives.

As well as bringing their legal expertise, we're seeking someone who is creative and strategic in their approach and appreciates the role that the arts can play in a community like ours. We have lots of projects on the go so there is always something to be done.
