Volunteer Chair

What will you be doing?

CYP is a grassroots project established in 2001 that provides a safe, caring, youth-led space for disadvantaged children and young people aged 7-25 where they can learn, develop, and build towards a brighter future. We are the leading youth charity working exclusively in the Caledonian and Barnsbury wards of Islington, London. Our current chair, Nathan Davies, is stepping down after supporting Copenhagen Youth Project since 2016. So, we are looking for someone to take on this vital role as we continue to work with our members and partners to further develop our vision and plan and to maintain and improve our services. The chair leads the board of trustees. Collectively, the board of trustees is responsible for making sure that CYP is run well, is financially sustainable, and that we achieve our mission and purpose. Under the chair's leadership, the board sets the strategic direction for CYP, working within our charitable objectives.

What are we looking for?

We will be looking for an individual who has the ability to support a grassroots charity with management and organisational governance, bringing credibility and influence at a senior level and equally with young people. We would love to hear from people who can bring some of the following values and approaches: vision and creativity, exceptional listening skills, integrity and commitment, team players, emotional intelligence, and a willingness to learn about being a trustee. A passion in giving children and young people access to an inclusive safe space is essential. We want to make sure our Board reflects the voices and diversity of the people we work with. We value diversity across our organisation and particularly encourage applications from Women, people from an ethnic minority background, disabled or having close experience of others with disabilities, people who have experienced poverty and disadvantage first hand.
