What will you be doing?
We aim to maintain a board of Trustees with a wide range of skills and experience. As Treasurer, you'll be a key player in charting our financial future. You'll also be hands-on with the reporting, ensuring we're on solid footing every step of the way. Specific Treasurer Duties and Responsibilities
Assist in developing the Budget, mindful of the required resources to meet the vision for the Mill. Ensure the Board receives appropriate budgetary and financial information. Work closely with the Mill Director to ensure that all accounts are prepared in the form required by funders, statutory bodies, and the Board of Trustees. Ensure adequate budgeting, financial control, and reporting systems are in place. Oversee the appointment of and liaise with auditors and independent examiners. Make sure the Trust has appropriate reserves and investment policies.
As a Trustee, the Treasurer should be able to demonstrate that they have the following qualities:
Enthusiasm for Whitchurch Silk Mill, what it does, and its vision. Willingness to bring new networks, contacts, and supporters to the Mill to help develop its profile locally and nationally. Business or fundraising experience that can assist the Trust in increasing its potential. Understanding of the charity sector. Commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion and a passion for engaging people of all ages and backgrounds in the industrial heritage of Hampshire. Integrity, relevant experience, and the ability to contribute effectively as a Board member.
What are we looking for?
Specific Skills and Experience
Knowledge and experience of current finance practice relevant to charity organisations. Good financial analysis skills. Knowledge of financial management in a small/medium-sized enterprise. Ability to communicate clearly with all members of the Mill Team. Previous fundraising experience would be a bonus, but a willingness to be involved is essential.
