What will you be doing?

We are It’s OK, a new national charity with the aim of helping and supporting young people with moderate to severe mental illness through mentorship, education and campaigning. We are currently operating as a CIC, but have just applied for our charitable status. What will you be doing?

Help to build and maintain the charity's brand, promoting and extending knowledge of the work of It’s OK. Work with the CEO and youth advisory board to build a robust communications strategy in tandem with the organisation’s strategy. Have contact with client organisations and the media, on behalf of It’s OK. Recruit, manage and support communications volunteers alongside CEO.  Create online digital content for blogs, social media.

Report to: CEO  Hours of work: 5 hours per week (minimum)  Location: Virtual (home-based)  Terms of employment: Voluntary  Application deadline: Rolling  Start date: ASAP

What are we looking for?

Experience, Skills And Abilities:

Enthusiasm for the effectiveness of good communications and marketing.

Confidence in handling communications in a variety of media, including print, digital and social media.

Understanding of the principles of graphical design and impact - desirable.

Evidence of an eye for detail and a commitment to accuracy.

Ability to work independently, with good judgement, in a virtual organisation.

Experience of managing and motivating others to achieve agreed goals.

Willingness to be an ambassador for It’s OK.

Experience in some of the following areas:

Digital strategy, Advertising, Copywriting / journalism, Event management, Marketing strategy, Public relations, Brand creation, Design, Social Media.

What difference will you make?

The Head of Communications volunteer will allow the CEO to focus on strategy and future planning of this new and innovative organisation. You will help to engage young people and other volunteers to create meaningful content and spread our mission of improving the lives of young people living with mental illness.
