What will you be doing?

Blues is an Ofsted registered term time only early years provider in Bishop's Stortford.  Our trustees are key to running the charity, making decisions regarding its management in order to achieve its aims and reach full potential.  We have a small team of Trustees that we wish to enlarge, and particularly to bring experience in Finance, HR, and forward business planning, grant applications, marketing, policy reviews and governance procedures and succession planning.  You do NOT need experience in Early Years or childcare provision (our paid staff are the experts in this). The trustee role is subject to suitability checks by Ofsted and a DBS check.  We have evening meetings once a month ONSITE at the pre-school on a Monday evening, so you need to live within driving distance. We are seeking a Treasurer with financial / accounting skills to assist with financial planning and management, budgeting and governance around this area.

What are we looking for?

Business focussed, with financial management and budgeting skills, possibly and accountancy qualification.  An understanding of charity governance and fundraising skills would be an advantage.

What difference will you make?

The CIO committee plays a key role to ensure we can continue to positively provide an Early Years service and support to our local families.  You will be part of a team working together to direct the strategic progression of the charity, keep us financially secure, as well as helping navigate business, management or governance issues as they arise. The early years of a child’s life are critical for their development and shape their lives for years to come.  You will be able to share your skills, time and ideas with others, have an opportunity to learn about early years, while helping us develop a strong approach to evolve alongside the governments planned expansion of the early years childcare system. The Treasurer role will ideally be able to assist the staff manager and finance officer with governance of the financial procedures, updating financial policy / reserves policy, assist with year end accounts, and forward financial planning for the pre-school.
