What will you be doing?

The Board of Trustees plays a pivotal role in guiding our charity toward achieving its mission and ensuring its long-term sustainability. To achieve this, we especially want to hear from people from a wide variety of ages, backgrounds and ethnic groups. You don’t need to have experience of being a trustee: these are skills that can be developed, so please don’t let a lack of experience put you off from applying.  This is what your role as a Trustee will entail:

Strategic Leadership:

As a Trustee, you must have independent judgement, an ability to think creatively and a willingness to speak your mind.

Advocacy and Representation:

Your role as a trusted spokesperson will contribute to the amplification of our charity's voice to reach wider audiences to further our cause.

Oversight and Accountability:

You will work closely with key stakeholders, monitoring the implementation of strategic plans, the delivery of programs and services, and transparent management of resources.

Collaboration and Partnership:

You will continually foster collaborative relationships with stakeholders, partners, other STEM or youth-led organisations and young people.

Governance and Compliance:

You will contribute to robust governance practices, monitor compliance with relevant laws and regulations and uphold the highest standards of ethical conduct and transparency.

What difference will you make?

BeScience STEM provides young people with vital information on the soft skills required to stand out and succeed in an increasingly competitive job market. This will help them be better engaged and purpose-driven to pursue careers in STEM which will make a real difference in the lives of disadvantaged children and young people. Our programs also offer career planning support which improves their career prospects, reduces future NEETs and in turn improves the economy of the wider community and benefits the country as a whole. Our programs and facilitation style instill a life-long love for education, as evidenced in our past programs: -“BeScience STEM is having an amazing impact on families and young people, from diverse backgrounds. It is a huge pleasure supporting this and I look forward to seeing it roll out nationally, supporting more families in other areas..”Amir Mahmood (De Montfort University Outreach Officer) -“I have 3 home-educated children, who attended the sessions. They enjoy the sessions and take an interest in their findings and the topic they have learnt about. They look forward to the sessions each week.”Farhana Hajat (Mother of 3 children attending STEM Juniors) Help us meet our goals and objectives!
