Volunteer Treasurer

What will you be doing?

It’s an important role – you would need to maintain a clear view of our financial position and the risks we deal with, and assist the Board to make strategic and financial decisions. But it need not be onerous – we have a Finance Officer who operates the system and prepares the accounts, and he would support you and report to you. OUR VALUES We are: courageous, ethical, responsive, inclusive, creative. For nearly thirty years now, the Trust has been working to help make many things better in Moreton and its surroundings. One reason we have succeeded in this is because it is a fantastic community in the first place – people want to do things together; they believe in the power of community. Another reason is that we have had a team of Trustees, volunteers and staff who have been committed to our goals of helping Moreton to be flourishing, dynamic place to live, work and visit, where everyone feels included and supported. Quite ordinary people can do extraordinary things! These Trustees have brought with them ideas that we have enabled them to bring to fruition. They have brought all kinds of experience to make our team stronger. Some have had links with other groups and organisations that are making a positive impact and that we have been able to support. We are seeking a Treasurer to sit alongside 6 returning trustees and 4 new, to help set our strategic direction and find better ways to meet our aims and objects. We value the inclusivity of the communities we serve, and we would like to have a Board that is representative of those communities.

STRANDS OF THE TRUST There are four main strands to the Trust; Green Hill (the building), Green Hill Arts, Wellmoor and Special Projects (such as biodiversity, sustainability, renewable energy projects). Green Hill Arts is the art gallery and arts program, workshops and 5 art studios and a gallery shop featuring local artist and artisans. Wellmoor is the main delivery arm of the Trust for all health and wellbeing projects, participatory art, heritage, and community place-based projects. Green Hill building houses various tenants and the income from the building sits are the core of the Trust’s financial stability. Then finally we have special projects delivered by the Trust such as the Moretonhampstead water meadow and the community workshop plans.  Wellmoor aims to empower whole community well-being by pioneering innovative projects to respond to the needs of local people. They offer support across communities in North-East Dartmoor, including Moretonhampstead, Chagford and Okehampton. Green Hill Arts aspires to excellence in the Arts through the depth and breadth of our gallery programme, engagement with our community and place, collaboration with established and emerging artists, and support of their practice. We are a volunteer led gallery and shop on the edge of Dartmoor, bringing exceptional Art to a rural audience.  The shop and gallery bring in income to Green Hill Arts, enables us to employ a curator, an arts officer and arts administrator.
