Volunteer Trustee sought with passion for animal welfare, ideally with experience of governance and fundraising

What will you be doing?

Dogstar Foundation is in a major growth cycle following its transition from unincorporated (Charity number 1188754) to CIO status. Our focus is to improve the welfare of street dogs and cats in Sri Lanka, with canine/feline population control, rabies vaccination programmes, feeding, veterinary care and education. Successful applicants to our board will have a mix of practical career experience and a passion for animal welfare.Key experience currently sought by our board includes Governance, Fundraising, and Legacy engagement. Dogstar Foundation has accountants in the UK and Sri Lanka with a mature set of Management Accounts and reporting practices. The board is seeking a qualified individual to provide guidance, support and governance of financial affairs. We also work with HR consultants and would outsource legal advice where necessary.  Our Board members hold regular quarterly meetings and in between communicate regular on functional support matters and guidance via email, video calls and face to face where possible. Trustee board members may also be located in Sri Lanka which is 4 1/2 to 5 1/2 hours ahead (depending on daylight saving) so individuals need to be prepared to attend some meetings in the morning and occasionally at weekends. What are we looking for?

Key experiences currently maintained by our board includes Chair, Commercial, HR, Legal, Finance, Marketing and International Veterinary. We are looking for individuals with an understanding and passion for animal welfare, with supporting experience within a private or third sector organisation. A varied background in private or public sector or a general passion for animal welfare on the international stage. Experience working as a Trustee or Committee membership preferred.
