What will you be doing?
This is a unique opportunity for an enthusiastic and dynamic individual to contribute to the growth and development of our school, with a special focus on our charitable status and giving back to the community. Pennthorpe School, nestled in the picturesque countryside of West Sussex, has a proud history of providing high-quality education to children aged 2 to 13. We are more than just a school; we are a community that believes in nurturing young minds and fostering a sense of responsibility towards society. We are proud to have charitable status, meaning all our fees are reinvested into our school. We are overseen by a committed and knowledgeable Governing Body who help to ensure we provide a high quality and brilliantly balanced education, and a happy learning environment. At Pennthorpe our mission is to give children the most compelling educational experience possible; to nurture their positivity, tolerance, resilience and collaboration; to prepare them to pursue their individual aspirations and contribute to the world.
What are we looking for?
We are seeking candidates with a passion for education, a heart for charitable endeavours, and a genuine desire to make a positive impact on the community. Your dedication and commitment matter most. At least 3 years professional experience in Governance or Education is a requirement for this role.
What difference will you make?
Our Governors play a vital role in shaping our future, working closely with our dedicated team of educators and fellow Governors to: · Develop and implement strategies to enhance our charitable status · Oversee community engagement projects that align with our values · Monitor the impact of our initiatives and ensure transparency · Collaborate with local organisations and stakeholders The Governing Body has overall responsibility for the school and they have a wide range of experience and skills, and exercise highly effective oversight. They have an excellent understanding of the day-to-day working of the school. The full Governing Body meets once a term with a number of sub-committees providing regular reports in areas such as Education & Welfare, Finance & General Purposes and Remunerations. On average, Governors would devote around 3 – 4 days per term to school business, although this will vary depending on the needs of the school.
