What will you be doing?
Worthing Sea Cadet Unit is looking for a result driven fundraiser and grant writer who will primarily be responsible for developing and writing proposals to foundations and other grant making organisations. Identifying, establishing, and managing relationships with major donors and potential donors including individuals, trusts, local authorities and corporations. The Role
Develop a yearly fundraising budget & strategy with the Unit Management Committee Help to set up budgets for capital equipment, training & unit requirements Research, write and prepare grant proposals and reports that align with Sea Cadet missions Identify a range of potential donors, engage, and manage those relationships Plan and coordinate funding approaches including developing logical frameworks and/or theory of change in accordance with funder guidelines. Develop Worthing Sea Cadets ‘case for support’ to communicate our cause clearly & concisely to potential funders showing the benefit of our work and how they can provide support. Network and engage with local businesses Work collaboratively with the Unit team to enhance fundraising efforts Produce quarterly Unit Management Team reviews on the performance and progress of fundraising against agreed financial targets, operational activities and annual objectives Frequent communication with Unit Management Team Chair and CO on donor requirements i.e. deadlines/report requirements Manage relevant due-diligence processes Keep up to date on institutional donor trends in line with global development goals
What are we looking for?
Qualifications & Requirements
3 years of fundraising experience with good knowledge of a range of traditional and innovative fundraising methods i.e. online advertising or legacy giving campaigns. Prior experience in writing successful grants and reports Demonstrate experience of building strong and trusting relationships with corporates A self-starter with a track record of growing income generation. Pitching and proposal writing experience Excellent communication and influencing skills (written & verbal) Strong network and presentation skills An Interest & understanding of Sea Cadet Core values & ethos The candidate is required to have their own laptop and communication tools and have strong IT skills Applicants will need to submit to a criminal record check and be free of unspent convictions
