No previous experience of sitting on a Board or working with a Board is required. What the role requires The Board meets a minimum of four times a year for general meetings. The AGM is held consecutively with a general meeting. There may be occasions, when it is necessary to call extraordinary meetings in addition. Meetings are normally held on a Tuesday evening from 6pm and 8pm in Malton. However, there is flexibility about the timings of the meetings. We are also looking to employ technology to enable trustees to participate in Board meetings remotely from time to time. In between meetings, you may be asked to consider proposed changes to existing policies and procedures or responses to emergencies, such as the present public health crisis, via email.  Community Counselling (North Yorkshire) Limited [CCL] is a company limited by guarantee as well as a registered charity.  As such, trustees are also company directors.  If you would like to know more about the role of a director of CCL, please request a copy of our Memorandum of Association. You would be required to have an Enhanced DBS check for this role also. What we offer you The post of trustee is unpaid but will provide you a great deal of experience and satisfaction. What difference will you make?

Without the support of its trustees, Community Counselling simply could not operate: trustees play a vital role in shaping the strategic direction of the organisation.  Because trustees are ultimately responsible for the charity - as well as giving advice  - they sometimes have to ask difficult questions of the Chief Officer - and of other officers of the charity - to ensure that the organisation is meeting its charitable objects, fulfilling all its ethical and legal requirements, providing a professional service to clients and value for money to its funders and commissioners.   The success of Community Counselling since is was established as an independent charity in 2013, is in no small part due to the dedication and hard work of the trustees.  The fact that it is a small Board has been an advantage as it has meant that it has been possible to take important decisions in a timely (and an appropriate) manner where necessary.
