We are seeking enthusiastic and committed individuals to join the Board of Trustees of Swindon Food Collective, the local food bank supporting people who are struggling to provide food for themselves and their families.

What will you be doing?

We are an independent charity serving people in Swindon and surrounding areas who are experiencing financial hardship and struggling to provide food for themselves, their families or dependants. Increasing numbers of people are relying on us in the current cost of living crisis, and the Board of Trustees works collaboratively with our dedicated staff members and volunteers to ensure that our operations continue to meet their needs now and in the future. The Role Along with your fellow Trustees, you will:

ensure the charity is solvent and well governed ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements ensure the charity has a clear vision, mission and strategic direction and is focused on their achievement safeguard the charity’s assets, taking all due care over their security, deployment, and proper application work collaboratively and supportively with fellow trustees, staff and volunteers uphold the good name and ethos of the food bank serve on sub-committees and attend various other meetings, including with the charity’s staff, volunteers, and stakeholders if required

What are we looking for?

Strong personal commitment to the mission and values of Swindon Food Collective Capacity to contribute actively to the strategic direction, with the ability to analyse complex concepts Confident and effective communication and influencing skills with the ability to listen and engage effectively Ability to foster and promote a collaborative team environment and work effectively towards collective strategic decisions An understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of trusteeship Willingness to give the time commitment required for the role

Beyond preparation and attendance at planned Board meetings (currently monthly), you may be called on to participate in specific sub-committees, ad hoc projects or advising on operational or other issues in which you have special expertise.
