What will you be doing?

Halesworth Millennium Green is a trust (now a Charitable Incorporated Organisation CIO) established in 1999. The Green has grown from 30 to 50+ acres of open space for people and wildlife. Lying immediately east of the town there are grazing and water meadows, a community orchard, old and new woodland, heritage railway, a surfaced track part of National Cycle Route 1, and running through the land a navigation waterway and the River Blyth. Find background information in the Management Plan on our website at 'Our Activities / Practical Management'. The charity is run by Trustees who are volunteers, as all the Green's workers have been since 1999. Trustees stay on the Board for 4 vears but can renew or leave the Board - how about a 4-vear stint to start? The Trust's Purpose is to contribute to the life of the community by being accessible to locals and visitors alike, and to make a positive contribution to the local environment. This means the Trustees' task is to ensure that the charity balances the needs of people with those of wildlife, both by delivering hands-on management and by long-term planning. Not many meetings a year, 3 or 4, but you need to be available at least by email to help in between times with issues that arise. Find out more about being a Trustee on our website under the tab 'About Us / The Trustees'.
