Volunteer Trustee for an effective small charity in North Somerset

What will you be doing?

Vision North Somerset needs you! We are are an effective local charity, supporting people with sight loss and hearing loss across North Somerset. Our small, friendly, skilled board needs 2-3 new trustees to broaden our knowledge base and provide different viewpoints. Bring your professional skills to help the charity move forward with confidence. We are particularly looking for people with skills or experience in: 

Marketing and communications, including digital Fundraising (you won't have to do any fundraising, just provide strategic oversight) Business management and development Third sector/ local government/ NHS experience Human resources/ legal knowledge Safeguarding Equality, Diversity and Inclusion

Trustee meetings are Monday evenings, every two months so the role is ideal for someone who is currently working. People with lived experience of disability are particularly encouraged to apply, as are people from Black or minority ethnic backgrounds.  Please get in touch for an informal conversation to find out more. 

What are we looking for?

We are looking for people who:

Have a willingness to accept the legal duties and responsibilities of trusteeship and undertake induction and training as required. Have demonstrable experience in a relevant professional context, for example as specified below. Have a strong commitment to social justice. Can demonstrate tact and diplomacy, with the ability to listen and engage effectively while also demonstrating independent thought.

We welcome an informal discussion with people whose skills/experience includes any of the following:

Fundraising and income generation Contracts and commissioning in a health/social care setting Marketing/ Communications  Human resources Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Community engagement Service development and design Understanding of health, public health, social care services

What difference will you make?

As trustee, you will have the chance to work with a committed, forward-thinking, friendly and diverse group of trustees to grow and develop services supporting local people in North Somerset.  Being a trustee doesn't require a huge investment of time but will have a huge impact on the strength and effectiveness of the charity. It's fun seeing an organisation from the inside and being able to influence its direction.
