What will you be doing?
Elmbridge Choir is a 100-strong, volunteer-led, not-for-profit, adult, mixed-voice, non-audition community choir whose ambition is to a difference to people whose lives are less fortunate than their own by raising funds through giving public performances. Welcoming all, whatever their voice part and regardless of musical ability, our members come from all walks of life and share the passion to sing. Established in 2005, we’ve contributed to raising in excess of £230,000 for local good causes, created a strong community within its members, and in our local community. Main activities: using a consistent brand voice when communicating. : Using concise, attention-grabbing copy including timely commentary, that speaks to our audience create and submit engaging content for publication in monthly local news media create and post engaging content on social media (Facebook) create and submit event details on multiple event listing sites Outputs: 1) a monthly article, c300-400 words, with an image, sent to the local home-delivered news media. Topics could include general profile raising, a topical subject related to the choir e.g. the health benefits of singing, concert publicity (three formal concerts per annum, plus c4-5 community singing events) 2) weekly posts on social media, on similar topics as the local news media 3) six weeks before a formal concert, social media posts, submit event details on multiple event listing site and then weekly running up to the concert, and a post-concert post. Time required (depending on how quickly the successful applicant creates content)
What are we looking for?
creative copywriting compelling content creation clear communication style creativity to identify ways in which to communicate our story, whether delivering concert publicity, general PR or harnessing topical information efficient project management time-management to meet varying copy deadlines (mainly local news media) Fully competent and familiar with Office applications and social media platforms.
What difference will you make?
Your skills and input will help us grow and thrive as a choir, providing the community, friendship and camaraderie to our members, aiding their mental and physical well-being, reducing isolation and enhancing their shared purpose. In addition to helping us to reach a wider audience, we will generate ticket sales, which means more people will hear about the good work of our concert/performance charity beneficiary and help them raise much-needed funds for their services through volunteering, donating or becoming a voice for them in their own communities and social networks.
