What will you be doing?

We're particularly looking for people who are interested in helping our small charity move forward with its big plans to expand our Social Enterprise. Our social enterprise provides work experience for young people whilst delivering gardening and hard landscaping work for clients in the local area. Trustees are needed with connections to the construction industry and with business development skills to help us gain more contracts so we can provide work experience for more young people and generate our own income so we are less reliant on donations in the future.  The role of a trustee is:-

to ensure that Kingstanding Regeneration Trust (KRT) complies at all times with its governing document, charity law, company law and any other relevant legislation or regulations to ensure that KRT pursues its objects as defined in its governing document to maintain proper financial control and ensure that KRT applies its resources exclusively in pursuance of its objects i.e. the charity must not spend money on activities that are not included in its objects, no matter how worthwhile or charitable those activities are to set and maintain vision, mission and values to develop strategy, setting overall policy, defining goals and setting targets and evaluating performance against agreed targets to ensure accountability to set up employment procedures and respect the roles of staff/volunteers to support the operational management of the organisation to draw up and monitor the implementation of internal policies, which must include equality and diversity as well as health and safety policies and grievance and disciplinary procedures to ensure that risk assessments for all aspects of the business are carried out to safeguard the good name and values of KRT to maintain effective board performance and ensure the effective and efficient administration of the charity including funding, insurance and premises to promote KRT to act in the best interests of the charity, never in the interests of yourself or another organisation

What are we looking for?

Experience of winning work within the constructions or property maintenance industry would be a huge benefit to KRT.

What difference will you make?

Be part of the team that supports NEET (not in education, employment or training) young people aged 16 – 29 to achieve work experience, entry level qualifications, employability skills. Our Introduction To Construction course is designed to be a stepping stone for those most excluded from society to realise their potential and take their first steps towards succeeding in employment.  The overall aim is to empower young people to break the cycle of poverty by ensuring they’re independently capable of supporting themselves. Our charity typically supports 40 young people into employment or training every year. These young people are from the most disadvantaged areas of our city and frequently have adverse childhood experiences. Since January, 84% of our young people have gone into employment or further training within 8 weeks of completing our course. Help us keep that going!
