What will you be doing?

As Treasurer you would be joining our active board or trustees, all of whom have visited and worked on the ground in Nepal. This is an exciting time to be join the the FtL team as we are moving into a new phase of our long-term strategy. Having partnered with local government in the new Education Act formation, and Kathmandu University we are increasing the value of our impact and expanding into the neighbouring municipalities . This is a magnificent opportunity to create lasting and sustainable change for every single government school in the district - working with approximately 8500 children. Working with our Programmes Director, Finance officer in Nepal and our UK bookkeeper you will be well supported as treasure. We would be looking for someone with competent skills in Excel and experience in financial management of small organisations. Some experience of International Development would be idea, but in this role it is not essential. As a key player on a small board you will naturally need to be part of strategic decision making and learn something of the operations and implantation in Nepal.  It is not a strenuous or time consuming role if you have good financial systems experience, yet it will have big impact for our work.

What are we looking for?

- Experience in financial management, ideally with knowledge of charitable accounting  - Experience in organisational governance, committed to good governance and accountability - Someone who is committed to the cause of providing quality education for all, no matter their background, ethnicity or religion. - An understanding of the UK charity sector and ideally, experience working with the financial systems of implementing partners in overseas development.

What difference will you make?

We are small committed team in the UK and enjoy working together! We are keen to find a trustee to join us who cares deeply about equality and fairness for all, who has an open mind, and understands that sometimes the most obvious approach is not always the most impactful for the communities we work with. With this in mind, you will be part of a charity that can provide huge impact on a small budget. You will be part of a grass roots, established organisation, community focused, and who work closely with all stakeholders on a regular basis.  As treasurer your role will be key in ensuring that as a board we have a comprehensive understanding of our financial circumstances, informing the fundraising decisions, providing security in our financial regulation and overseeing the organisation's finical systems.
