Volunteer Trustee for Home-Start Blackmore Vale which offers practical support for vulnerable families

What will you be doing?

Based in the Blackmore Vale area, there are 6 Trustee meetings per year lasting approximately 2 hours, currently on 2nd Friday morning of the month. As Home-start Blackmore Vale trustees we provide management and strategic leadership overseeing the provision a quality service to the families we serve. We have had 12 years experience providing support to families both in the home or in groups primarily across North Dorset and due to some additional funding we are expanding into West Dorset and South Somerset. This has started with support to military families from Yeovilton, but we are looking to extend this into the wider community.  So it is an exciting time to "come on board".  There are opportunities for the Trustees to get further involved in aspects of the strategic management of the charity dependent on your skills, interests and time with most of this being carried out from your home with occasional visits to the office.  Please contact us via Reach for further information and to have your questions answered.

What are we looking for?

We are a small friendly board. We are looking for additional trustees who have a little free time to support this very worthwhile work. You will bring with you your life experience, and skills you have developed over time. You might also have a work experience or professional qualifications which we could benefit from. 

What difference will you make?

We are currently a body of 6 Trustees.  However, we would like to take this up to 10 to ensure continuity in forward planning and to share the workload in a meaningful way.  We are keen to recruit a new Chair for the board. We are a Board which welcomes new ideas and input from a wide range of backgrounds.  We feel that this makes for healthy discussion which brings different perspectives, and helps to keep us up to date with current thinking at both local and national level.
