What will you be doing?

Overall the board of trustees ensures Carers’ Support Centre delivers its goals and objectives and is managed effectively. Trustees have duties and responsibilities under company and charity law and are entrusted with the role of ensuring that resources are managed and used effectively. As is the case across all sectors, we are challenged by the reduction in resources available to do our valuable work and need to be creative and pragmatic, managing the expectations of our clients, whilst meeting their needs. We are looking to expand the number of trustees on our board. You will see below the type of experience that is useful. We would hope to offer opportunities for working closely with staff teams, as appropriate, to support delivery of strategic objectives. You do not need previous experience of being a trustee or being a board member.

What are we looking for?

We are always keen to hear from people who might expand the skills and experience of our body of trustees for the benefit of the organisation and carers we support. We welcome you to contact us to have a chat about your experience, skills and interests. All Trustees must demonstrate: 1. A commitment to the organisation and its cause, demonstrating an understanding of the role of unpaid/family carers and the impact of this. 2. A willingness to devote the necessary time and effort. 3. Strategic vision. 4. Good, independent judgment. 5. An ability to think creatively. 6. A willingness to speak their mind. 7. An understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of trusteeship (we can provide support on this). 8. An ability to work effectively as a member of a team. Support from other trustees will be available to help you settle in as well as training and opportunities to observe key meetings in the early stage of your involvement. We are not looking to fill a specific role at this time, but would like someone who has the skills alongside the passion and motivation to get involved in the work of the board.

What difference will you make?

This is a vital role, helping ensure we can continue our support for unpaid carers. As a trustee, you will have a real opportunity to offer your unique set of skills and your experience to help the charity progress in our support of this group. The role provides a great deal of experience and satisfaction, the opportunity to develop your skills and utilise your expertise and knowledge. You will have the opportunity to engage with the local community, to understand needs and use strategic and creative skills to influence services for family carers. It is a great opportunity for personal development, to expand knowledge of the voluntary sector and make a difference.
