Volunteer Trustee to join the board of a local community transport organisation. We are looking for someone who has financial experience

What will you be doing?

With the imminent retirement of two of our trustees we need to strengthen and expand our team of trustees to ensure sustainability  while continuing to develop services for the community.  Joining the board of trustees would provide an opportunity to guide and develop future plans for community transport  services in the Sudbury area .  Additionally you would be  helping  to develop an environmental policy enabling Go Start to work towards and meet the stated environmental  aims and intentions of Suffolk County Council and Babergh District Council  We need to provide services which meet local needs, and provide  social value . Time commitment about 5 hours a month. The recent purchase of a new electric mini bus is the first step towards transitioning of 50% of the current fleet to low carbon electric passenger vehicles.   This initiative needs to be encouraged and  developed  in order to ensure viability of GoStart. Particular skills required are finance and fundraising.  It is hoped that a new trustee could, in due course, take on the role of treasurer.

What are we looking for?

The Trustee needs to have financial experience and an understanding and empathy for passengers who may be disabled or disadvantaged.  Ideally the trustee should have some experience dealing with a team of volunteers and be prepared to research ways of increasing income from all possible sources. They should have the ability to improve awareness of the availability of the services provided by community transport in the Sudbury area.

What difference will you make?

GoStart is an independent  charity and a company limited by guarantee which has been involved in provision of accessible community transport in Sudbury and surrounding villages for over 30 years.  As a trustee you will support and shape our work as well as helping GoStart to achieve its purpose of providing cost effective accessible passenger transport in order to promote the health and well-being of passengers, their families and individual service users. You will have the opportunity to develop your role to guide and develop these services which have been identified as being needed within the community. In addition you will be helping and guiding GoStart to improve its environmental performance. We need someone to keep us on track financially and keep us viable, but we are particularly looking for someone to help us remain sustainable for the future.
