What will you be doing?

At WAC, our Board has 9 Trustees with a broad range of skills, experiences and backgrounds and some have caring experience. We are now looking for someone to join us as a Trustee and as our Treasurer. They must be experienced in financial management, either through a recognised accountancy qualification or through chief executive/ general management roles that involve financial oversight. The main duties of the Treasurer are:

To oversee, approve and present budgets, accounts, financial statements and financial reports to the Board of Trustees after discussion with the CEO and Finance Manager, ensuring good practice and in accordance with the governing document and legal requirements. To provide assurance to the Board that the financial resources of WAC meet its present and future needs; and that effective financial measures, controls and procedures are in place. To be instrumental in the development and implementation of appropriate financial, reserves and investment policies. To liaise with external Auditors to ensure Annual Accounts produced and submitted in line with timetable. To work closely with the Finance Manager to provide support and guidance as and when required

What are we looking for?

Suitable candidates must either hold a recognised accountancy qualification and be experienced in financial management, preferably at a senior level in a medium sized organisation; or be experienced in financial management and oversight at CEO or general management level. Ideally, they should have digital expertise too. They will be good communicators, with gravitas to lead on financial matters, with a commitment to what WAC delivers and be willing to be engaged in the overarching direction and strategy.  It is not necessary to have previous Trustee or Board committee experience as full training and induction will be provided. This position would therefore suit an individual taking their first steps. We welcome applications from all ages and backgrounds. We are actively looking to diversify our Board to help us represent all the communities of Worcestershire. If you think you can help us to achieve this we would very much like to hear from you. Everyone’s input will be valued and support will be available to a new Trustee. There is no financial remuneration, though expenses for travel and out-of-pocket expenses may be claimed. There will be an induction and training programme.

What difference will you make?

The role of Treasurer will be an exciting and fulfilling one, where you bring your financial knowledge and experience to benefit our well-respected charity and give something back to the community.
