What will you be doing?
The role of Communication and Social Media volunteer aims to ensure REFEO’s visibility externally. The communication and social media volunteer will coordinate with the team to ensure that updates can be posted regularly so potential clients, potential donors, other organisations, and the wider public can have a better understanding of REFEO’s work. The main tasks of the Communication and Social Media volunteer are the below:
Write and edit content for social media platforms such as Facebook and LinkedIn, and our website Build strategies to increase social media following and build fundraising campaigns Use social media to promote the activities and achievements of REFEO, Keeping our social media channels updated on a frequent basis, Encouraging engagement with REFEO’s social media content via increasing its visibility, ensuring that communication reaches a wide range of audience, Develop and manage content for our website and social media, such as Facebook & Linkedin, Take part in monthly teleconference meetings with committee members, Track the effectiveness of our social media work and recommend ways forward, Keeping up to date with REFEO’s events and news, and choosing what to promote through our social media feeds, Coordinating with other volunteers in REFEO to be provided with interesting content about the work delivered, Support the creation and delivery of a 6-monthly newsletter to share with REFEO’s supporters, donors, and clients. The volunteer must commit to at least 3 months with REFEO. Over their contract, the coordinator will be expected to be available for REFEO about 2 to 3 hours per week.
What are we looking for?
The below pre-requisite skills and attributes are required:
A good understanding and interest in social media management (Facebook and LinkedIn in a first instance) and in website management, Ability to transform small snippets of information into interesting and engaging stories suitable for Facebook, Twitter, etc. Good knowledge and experience using the Microsoft Package (including Word Excel, and PowerPoint in priority), Passionate about social justice and for equitable rights between individuals living in the same country, Good design skills and ability to produce engaging content following clear branding guidelines, Excellent communication and writing skills in English, Good understanding of confidentiality, Ability to work well with little supervision, Good level of English and ICT, Fluency in other languages can be a plus.
This opportunity is a remote opportunity. Applicants are expected to have a laptop that they can use to conduct this volunteering opportunity and access to the Microsoft Package (or similar) and a good internet connection.
